So, millions of Americans are now getting the experience of having witnessed something big with their own eyes and ears that the mainstream press is too complicit and fearful to report truthfully.
We need to call out the minimizing, the wildly off crowd size estimates, and the attribution of motivations .
And we need to spotlight the processes within media that render certain viewpoints impossible to represent honestly.
@PhoenixSerenity If this is prompted by the horse trampling video with the LAPD cops; I want to thank the horses trainer. And bring the cop up on war crimes.
That is not acceptable behavior from anyone; particularly someone charged with enforcing the peace.
And yes the horse was a more moral actor than the person riding them.
So I have heard through the grapevine that the marine contingent is mostly still in 29 Palms training up on conducting peacekeeper missions on American soil.
There's still no report that they have shared a document setting out under whose authority they are operating, or describing the ROE they are supposed to follow.
So any Marine Officers who take part in this operation are doing so without legal cover.
This seems bad. Like; people have been warning about this being a bad idea for decades and we have actual law written in the constitution that is supposed to prevent this, bad.
"About 500 Marines being mobilized in response to LA protests, sources tell CNN"
So are the the National Guard going into LA with a documented Rules Of Engagement (ROE) plan?
Do they know under what conditions they are allowed to shoot and who they are under no circumstances supposed to shoot and in fact could face charges if they shot (this usually applies to their superior officers and fellow guardsmen), do they have clearly stated objectives and a planned exit date?
Are they under the command of Tom Holman or Gavin Newsom?
What is the maximum deployment a National Guardsman can expect in LA?
Is there a process for a serving guardsman to declare that they cannot in good conscience be tasked with shooting American citizens? Does that result in criminal charges for conscientious objectors?
So many questions that would be asked and answered by a #freepress
I do not need that IBM Selectric; there is no reason for me to acquire it. I have no use for it. I don't care how many type balls it has. Yes it's cool. But again, I do not need it.
@waitworry@_L1vY_ When the Japanese trading delegate asked them what they wanted; they had no idea.
These are not serious people; they partied their way through their formative years being supported by and surrounded by an implicit white supremacy that always put them in their best light.
They have no concept of what it is to negotiate with a hostile peer.
They are a laughingstock on the international stage.
@_L1vY_ And Hollywood has been a leader in offshoring; even in the 1990's most animation was done in Japan or Korea. This is a kick in the nuts to Hollywood studios either way.
@neotoy I figure you could get a pretty good denial of service on low earth orbit for a budget of less than $5 Million USD.
A soda can's worth of beach sand tossed into orbit with a sling-a-tron style launcher is more than sufficient to start the process.
To get super effective; launch westward; you'll need more delta-vee and a beefier launcher but the differential delta-vee
A couple of dozen sand grains at a differential of more than 20km/s is going to put out enough joules to disable and fragment most of the mini-sats employed by the constellation operators.
A fun game to play with mental health professionals is to tell them that you're deeply worried that you're hallucinating heavily.
And when they ask why: "I'm concerned that I'm imagining this scenario where a second-rate TV star is pretending to be president and ruling by decree; it's absolutely implausible and makes me question my reality."
Being suddenly concerned about the fate of the U Bein bridge and the people of the surrounding area wasn't on my agenda tonight' but they just got a 7.7 quake.
@skinnylatte apparently the mastodon android client has a bug that prevents adding alt text to photos and voids the post. It looks like the tap is propagating to the second layer so you click the back arrow to add the alt text and the message is also passed to the next screen where the X close action is.
