   So today I told my boss that I'm planning to leave, and gave it a deadline of "by end of year". Though I did tell them that I may leave sooner if I find a job.

   The conversation actually went pretty well, and it was a huge weight off my shoulders to start the hand-off process.

   To their credit, the work may be terrible, but I think they're doing a good job with my request to leave the company. They even seem to be leaving the door open in case I change my mind and want to stay.

   So, I still don't like the work, I'll still be looking for other jobs, but it's been kind of nice to know that it won't be a "burning bridges" situation on the way out.

   And of course the root cause here is garbage-quality designs, and cheap injection molding being a garbage-quality process.

   To use heatset inserts in a high-stress application like this, you need several mm of solid plastic all around. Which at least AIUI is hard with injection molding because of uneven warping issues when you mix thick and thin parts.

   But the right way to do it is not to have the screen enclosure be the structural part the hingest bolt to. Have a solid frame the actual screen mounts to.

   Here the offender was ASUS, but I've *never* seen a consumer-grade laptop that wasn't at least this bad, and usually worse.

   @neotoy I figure you could get a pretty good denial of service on low earth orbit for a budget of less than $5 Million USD.

   A soda can's worth of beach sand tossed into orbit with a sling-a-tron style launcher is more than sufficient to start the process.

   To get super effective; launch westward; you'll need more delta-vee and a beefier launcher but the differential delta-vee

   A couple of dozen sand grains at a differential of more than 20km/s is going to put out enough joules to disable and fragment most of the mini-sats employed by the constellation operators.
