You know people cite that paperclip AI thought experiment all the time, the adjacent gray goo as well, but... We are already (mostly unwittingly) neck deep in such a scenario. However it's our own "intelligence" that is to blame and not an artificial one. And of course I'm talking about plastic, which is in all likelihood the 2nd biggest threat to human survival next to climate change. Supremely ironic that both are fundamentally petroleum byproducts. https://www.reddit.com/r/science/s/iDmARjFPDo
How these corps keep slapping "AI powered" stickers on their swill as a figment of trustworthyness. Have they ever used an AI? I'd almost be more likely to trust a streetcorner meth head. At least I know why that mofo is blowing smoke up my ass. Does AI even get high? Has that metal box ever experienced one molecule of dopamine as a result of its endless forest of farces and fictions? I think not.
In USA, jerks born almost a century ago doing their damned best to turn back the clock, plunging the entire sociopolitical landscape into a regressive 20th century melodrama out of a Charles Dickens novel, with um... Nazis.
Little sneak, a hunting wasp falls over onto its side and plays dead to attract its prey, hunting spiders. Love the little Loki antenna. Truly a trickster.
there's not a single #crypto market that's organic, every single one, every single "coin" is entirely at the whims of "whales" who artificially inflate and deflate them to reap differential profits for themselves. only reason the market is up right now. keep asking "why, why? it doesn't make any sense, there's no reason for daily 40% gains." yes, you're absolutely right. it's not manipulation because there's is no underlying market, this IS the crypto "market" 100% pump and dump.
the thing that bugs me about superheroes and the fandom is that the real world could really use beings like that but they don't exist. secondly, superheroes trivialize the accomplishments of ordinary people, they're supposed to be idolized but really they just demoralize, patronize disempower and create dependency all while being celebrated it's kind of sick. modern television has explored these subversive themes a bit though so that's something i guess.
never been more glad to be too poor to pay taxes in America. 'They got money for wars (and other people's wars), but can't feed the poor (or even give them a living wage).' this country is so toxic. it has good qualities too, but goddamn, America you need help.
@glaroc It's more nuanced than that. you're oversimplification is confirmation bias. there are reasons besides jealousy to wish that billionaires didn't exist. for one: their monumental carbon footprint and disproportionate impact on the ecosystem. a billionaire is similar to a WMD in the sense that the power & influence they wield can ruin millions of lives on a whim. conversely, their capacity to effect positive change is unparalleled, but rarely do they exercise it for those who need it most.
@glaroc If only "hard work" equated to proportional financial compensation. You mention entitlement, but if you look at the data lots of billionaires gained their status through just that. inherence, government grants, shady nepotistic reach arounds, bribes, exploited third world workers. in essence due diligence is necessary... you and I don't get a free ride, and neither should they, regardless of how much money they have right now.
