neotoythe thing that bugs me about superheroes and the fandom is that the real world could really use beings like that but they don't exist. secondly, superheroes trivialize the accomplishments of ordinary people, they're supposed to be idolized but really they just demoralize, patronize disempower and create dependency all while being celebrated it's kind of sick. modern television has explored these subversive themes a bit though so that's something i guess.
