      Here's a pattern that keeps happening: 1. Malignant actors within or entering a community cause problems for some of the people there. 2. The victims talk about it, because they need to, and have a right to. Sometimes they put up practical boundaries to defend themselves. They certainly make it clear who's victimizing them. 3. The original malignant actors pull a DARVO and accuse their own victims of "dividing the community." This depends entirely on a credulous public, or at least that community having room for a credulous mainstream inside of it. If you have any context, if you read any of the victims' accounts, the sham is clear for what it is. But the flow of information on the internet can be like one of the big plague cities during the industrial revolution: there's always more people just showing up with no immune response. I could have posted this any time in the last decade and it would apply to a different thing, but today I'm thinking about some bad takes I've seen about Codeberg.

    Akihabara used to be interesting. Now everyone is leaning in to gachapon, anime figure, TCG crap for tourists and speculators because you go to pay the rent.

    Been going on a few years.

    But shit, it's crap. Like really crap. End of the pier/amusement arcade/slot machine crap.

    Yeah. The more things change....

    It's weird. Macdonald's moved and was replaced by something selling figures and anime merch.

    The old-school electronic stuff (ham radio, slr camera stuff etc) has receded hugely, but even then that stuff is tucked away on 2F and 1F floor space is given over to... Anime tat.

    It will all change again as the trends shift. Makes finding stuff you want a real chore.

    But, you know not everyone is "making bank" selling vintage 35mm camera gear. 😂

    @sun Bans and curfews cut off vulnerable kids from their peers and non-resident family members. My ex-wife lied to, bullied and isolated our children from me and my family. When she kicked out eldest out AT TWELVE YEARS OLD, the daughter learnt that my family didn't hate her and abandon her. They took her in.

    Hiding under the covers at night with a secret tablet his mum didn't know about was the only way my son could communicate with the outside world before being assaulted by his step-father. She would get drunk and repeatedly physically attack him "you are just like your fucking father". Eventually he got a bit bigger, fought back and broke her rib. Small victories.

    This doesn't detail the mental and emotional abuse.

    Government is not the answer. Fuck them, all of them. I appreciate that there are a lot of nasty things and shitty people on the internet, but 'the government' is going to make life a lot more miserable for the vulnerable, the isolated and victims of domestic abuse.

    We had posters up at work detailing abusive behaviour, strangely a lot of it mapped pretty fucking well onto UK government policy and action.

    And don't give me shit about "oh yeah well, someone has to.... and and and back before social and and" Just fuck off.

    Better than my idea!! I cobbled together a D&D hexcrawl generator which makes a map, creates towns, of varying sizes with routes between, creates NPCs, treasure tables, hirelings, rumor generator, monsters, weather and encounters.

    Totally useless to anyone but me and does nothing of any real value when I should be doing stuff like language language learning or working.

    @PNS unrelated to the Macarema but during the lockdown we had 'vulnerable' and keyworker kids attending school. Each morning they'd do an exercise/dance thing in class. One staple song was "Timber" by Pitbull (lol, who??). I'd been out of the country and was totally unaware of it.

    TL;DR apparently it's okay to have under-10s dancing in a State-run school to a song about drinking and date rape. Because, as we all know, if you're too drunk to remember, you can't possibly have been cogent enough to give consent.
