Really wish #Mastodon was able to force pull posts. By user, by post/responses, etc. I'm betting it doesn't due to worries about servers straining to pull too much at once, but it would be nice if it was an option a server admin could turn on.

am i a free speech bro? i guess so. cause i don't want r*publicans telling me what i can and can't say. if that makes me a bad lib then i guess i'm a bad lib.

i don't think many americans really value the concept of "free speech" very much. they mostly put up with it cause the constitution says they have to.

"hurr durr not free from consequences" yeah no shit. but if push came to shove, most people would like "consequences" to be what is effectively suppression of the speech they don't like.

@testman it would help if they had accurate documentation. i tried installing it and its woefully out of date and plain wrong in places. i could never get it to federate with another server. as a project you pretty much have to be the devs to get it work right. seems not ready for prime time at this point.

Hey #Fediverse people/admins: #lemmy doesn't really seem like it's ready for prime time. Any other federated link sharing servers that would be good for a single user server?

you'll often see a common answer to this as mental health services. some actually mean it, some only say it so you'll stop pestering them about the issue.

i think the better answer is "a kinder society." a society that isn't completely driven by greed. one where people hold intrinsic value just for existing, rather than only the economic value they contribute to the gdp. a kind society would provide mental health services, true. it'd also be the kind of place you didn't need it as much.
