How does cooking work for you?.do you batch prep? Do you cycle through a number of favourite meals?

Is the way that money works actually the way that power works?

For example is the rich get richer while the poor get poorer just downstream of people with power having more capacity to cement and expand their power than people without it.

@AnthonyJK I agree fully that this is what happens. It gets worse and worse and both parties slide further to the right.

That's the best voting can do though.

I think voting for the lesser evil is the best option.

Their system is rigged and everything else needs to be done outside their system.

Voting is about picking an enemy.

The democrats care about their image a lot more than the republicans and are less free to be absolutely unhinged. Having to constant manufacture consent for atrocities slows them down. Overt fascists don't have this limitation.

I don't think voting can do real long term good on solving the deeper problems, but they can keep the most unhinged of to bourgeois out of power and signal to the powers how exploitable the masses are (the wealth for the richest went up when Trump won because their ability to continue to exploit and even ramp up their exploitation was secured).

@AnthonyJK But it was a first past the post system, there was no way they were going to win.

@fishidwardrobe @AnarchoNinaWrites I'm imagining we could have smart block lists, lists of instances and individuals to block, that could be subscribed to. To radically reduce the amount of work moderation takes, so the same instance or individual doesn't have to be reblocked over and over again.

The mastodon software can have as a default that one or more of these blocklists are subscribed to as a sane default. So individual instances don't need to reinvent the wheel of moderation each time.

We could have block lists, of servers and individuals that individuals or instances could subscribe to.

Maybe even the default for when a new instance is created would be to be subscribed to some of these blocklists, with opt-out rather than opt-in.
