   I find it fiendishly hilarious that folk who were browbeating us Indy Leftists to Vote Blue Only because "harm reduction" and "only Kamala can beat tRump" are back on the "revolution now" line. Like, there were actual Indy Left candidates out there, right??

     And, no, relying on Tlaib, Omar, and AOC to lead the comeback from within the Democratic Party is a myopic fantasy that's not happening.

     AOC has long since sold out; and the other two survived only because of strong local organization and GOTV shoe leather....and all three will still be irrelevant in a Jeffries/Gottenheiner/Latimer dominated Democrat minority in the House.

     I don't think voting can do real long term good on solving the deeper problems, but they can keep the most unhinged of to bourgeois out of power and signal to the powers how exploitable the masses are (the wealth for the richest went up when Trump won because their ability to continue to exploit and even ramp up their exploitation was secured).

     The problem is, though, that as long as the supposed "opposition" party is controlled and bought by the same elements who also control and buy out the fascist party, you will only get more of the same, if not progressively worse. "Containing the worst elements" still gives way too much ground to the "less worse" elements, which end up becoming regressively worse with every passing political cycle.

     @AnthonyJK I agree fully that this is what happens. It gets worse and worse and both parties slide further to the right.

     That's the best voting can do though.

     I think voting for the lesser evil is the best option.

     Their system is rigged and everything else needs to be done outside their system.

     Voting is about picking an enemy.

     The democrats care about their image a lot more than the republicans and are less free to be absolutely unhinged. Having to constant manufacture consent for atrocities slows them down. Overt fascists don't have this limitation.

     @sashin I don't, because all that does is make the evil progressively worse.

     Ultimately you have to eliminate the evil and its fundamental source altogether. Voting for Indy Left parties only aides in that effort far better than backing conservative Democrats.

     Democrats have shown quite well enough that their alleged care about "image" is merely a ruse to keep themselves one millimeter to the left of the GOP, just enough to cosplay an "opposition" while serving their own conservative corporate donors and keeping the system alive. And, as the ruse fails because authentic fascism beats bad cosplayed half-assed fascism, Democrats respond by pulling themselves even further rightward. It is all just a spectacle.

     @sashin We've been sending that signal for the past 20 years, and the response is always the same: they move Right.

     Only a strong Indy Left that seriously threatens the entire capitalist/racist system will ever move any party leftward. Democrats can't be moved; they must be REPLACED.
