@inthehands here in the uk, until recently, the local polling place had your name and address, and when you turned up to vote, they crossed you off. that was it. in the last election under that system, there were only eight cases of electoral fraud. not 8%. 8 total.

now of course we have to provide id because of a pathetic attempt to cancel the vote of certain people by the last government.

@inthehands speaking as someone who has spent his career in this particular cul-de-sac, the problem with english-like syntax is not that you can't write a good program in it; the problem is the very premise that you don't have to be a programmer to write a program.

i've had a long and moderately profitable career undoing the problems caused by such people.

i'm not sure this entirely puts LLMs in the same category. in some ways yes; in some ways no.

some of the folks vibe coding are programmers.

If transgender people are mentally ill then they should be treated. we have a treatment. granted, it's a little unusual, but it harms no one and it's got an *amazing* success rate, *far* better than anything else in psychology…
