From what I can see most EV drivers have no problem with paying some kind of road tax which would have otherwise come out of the taxes on fossil fuel use.

The issue is the method and the amount. IMO this should be something proportional to the annual mileage and could be paid at insurance time or from a tax on commercial/public charging stations.

The reason governments have not opted for this simple method and made it a direct and exorbitant charge is because they want to penalize EV drivers for not burning fossil fuels. ie these governments are captives of the fossil industry.

Im looking at you Alberta and Saskatchewan!

So I started watching a 'B' grade #Scifi series the other night called "Firefly". Its from the early 2000s and somehow I missed it back then. Anyway one of the main characters is a professional escort. She is the classiest and arguably the smartest character on the ship. In their universe the sex workers are considered part of the elite and held in very high regard. Some even have servants!

Im not sure I would like everything about the Firefly universe but that aspect is very cool.

With our #solar installed our averaged cost per KWh over the year is about $0.04.

Our #EV gets around 14KWh/100km for our day to day city highway mix. So that means its costing us about 60 cents to go 100km.

Our old Subaru at 8L/100km cost around $14.

14 dollars vs 60 cents.

This is how parliamentary democracies work.

In Canada whenever a minister makes an announcement the opposition critic immediately issues and counter announcement to try to shape the narrative. Its annoying as shit some times but it is quite effective. Some politicians excel at this kind of thing.

I find is so strange that in the #USA there seems be a complete vacuum where the opposition should be.

Yes, attacking the ludicrous IP rules we were goaded into agreeing to is a great approach. Even the threat of it should be enough to get them flapping. Love the idea, also love this line:
