Trump doesn’t joke. He’s not funny, doesn’t get humor, or understand irony. He says outrageous things and people laugh because he’s upsetting social norms (which is something that hard hitting jokes do), but that’s not what he’s doing.
He will totally deport US citizens to foreign slave labor prisons. On purpose. For causing him narcissistic injury by not bowing down to him.
It goes without saying that it shouldn’t be done to anyone, regardless of immigration status, but everyone needs to know the immediate danger he and his cult followers pose to everyone.
Maybe do something about it.

When I got to the #handsoff protest yesterday, a firetruck needed to get through on 42nd Street and the thousands of people in the street split so fast to make way it was unbelievable (in the sense that I don’t know how so many people moved so fast to make so much space)

@luckytran I grew up in Pittsburgh. My grandfather talked about businessmen changing their white shirts at lunchtime because by then the one they wore to work had turned grey. By the 1980s, most of that had cleared.

And I know that was because most steel mills shut down rather than modernize. But it’s not because they were bankrupt, they just refused and bought the steel from new modern Japanese factories.

Now China is a leader in renewable energy and the US still refuses to catch up.

I've been thinking about what the Democrats can do going forward, because we are, for the moment, still a 2-party system, and one thing I thought of is that there is little reason for most of our senators or representatives to be in Washington DC right now.
Now clearly, this is a fantasy, because despite most of the work being done by the grassroots, the dems seem averse to recognizing how much things have changed.
I acknowledge, too that for some of them, this is on purpose, for others, it's just an ability to understand, and others are just sidelined.
But anyway, about not going to DC...

There is NOTHING that Dems should be voting for right now. Not the CR, not approving appointees, not naming a post office after a war hero dog. Nothing should be bipartisan at this point, because everything that passes will be used against us.
Even being present for investigations and debates isn't going to be helpful. Nobody is going to see Senator Gillibrand pwn some chud in a hearing. It's not 1994, nobody is watching CNN to see a ten second clip of a committee hearing.
If you're a Dem senator, you should be using your federal salary to wander around the reddest parts of your state educating your constituents on how our government works and what it's there for.
If you're a red-state rep, you should be using that salary to wander your neighboring districts actually talking to people.

@GottaLaff None of the funding they’re blocking is secret. There’s no internal investigation that’s going to “turn up something”. The point is to disrupt.

@BrentToderian maybe this is why supposedly liberal billionaires don’t buy media. It’s a money losing investment, but for them it doesn’t turn into gains in other investments. It only works if you’re trying to turn public goods into private gains.
