I've had it up to here with #josm using garbage AI furry image stuff for their homescreen. (this is coming from a furry myself btw)
For context: #JOSM (a very popular #OpenStreetMap editor) has in recent weeks been using ai images (seems like there's a new one every day) to raise awareness for their translation project. They want more translations to happen for the JOSM application.

@zverik Shout out to:
Your Own Domain โข๏ธ
With Your Own Domain โข๏ธ , you have full control over where the urls go to so you don't have to deal with stuff like this.
Too much effort? try @prami (not paid by them, just like their domain service) and use their url shortener with your own full domain with them
@nemobis - the bridge for Thunderbird only works on desktop so it's not a solution for mobile.
- some people might not be able to install something on their PC so they can only use a browser or something
I don't know about those last parts but I don't think that has ever happened so far. Plus I think the bridge is downloadable through regular Linux repositories so I don't think you can make user specific downloads anyway
@nemobis proton makes it easy for those who don't know how to do that.
@nemobis @thisismissem @schykle *
That can intercept regular email but they can't decrypt e2e email right? They're doing as much as they can but they obviously have to abide by the law.
Any emails sent before they had to install the tracker or whatever, are encrypted on the user account so can't be accessed.
But of course if that person receives a plaintext email then that can get intercepted
Good news!
This year at #fosdem there is a new email that you can use to report any problems related to cleanliness or full bins or whatever:
cleaning@fosdem.org
We'll do our best to make sure it's handled asap.
Also toilets in general should be cleaner as we have a better system in place! ๐ค
(Oh and the bins-overflowing problem in the street with the food trucks should also be fixed)
@anna it'd have to verify this but normally nav.fosdem.org has a navigation tool inside that allows one to choose 'wheelchair' and give it a route that is accessible by wheelchair.
@anna Are the main problems you're facing mainly to do with indoor or outdoor navigation? (or both).
I am also a volunteer with openstreetmap so I have some vague connections with people who do accessibility things and I know a company that can print braille maps and such. Would that help in some way?
@anna (please don't interpret my response as an attack, that's not how I mean I'm just trying to have a conversation)
But with regards specifically to the physical accessibility (i'm referring to how you need a cane), is there something they could do?
FOSDEM is held at the ULB campus so it's partially ULB that needs to improve their accessibility as well?
(again, just asking for what could be done. I don't know enough about navigation for blind people to know what's possible)
@TTimo @lain
(have been recommending Kagi even before I was a consultant for them, disclaimer).
But yeah, Kagi Ultimate makes a lot of sense. It's not perfect when compared to having some of these llm's directly. But considering you're getting the best search engine included, the price is hard to argue against.
@TTimo @lain personally I just upgraded for one month to try it out and then stuck with it. But yeah, I feel you.
I should mention that in the New year's celebration live stream they did mention that the lower tier plans are also going to get some basic level of access to the assistant iirc
If someone needs a simple (but with a decent ui for adding content and such) website. But isn't tech savvy.
What service would you recommend?
(Something like wix/squarespace/etc but not as bloated or expensive)
@omgubuntu I'm no fanboy of any company. def not of intel.
But damn, Intel be cooking lately.
When they have something that is worth upgrading to from a GTX 1080, I'll look into buying it maybe
I asked (one of) my banks (KBC in this case):
Is this a normal fee or is there a bug in your system?
They replied it's normal.... what...?!
The cost is almost the same as the amount I'm wanting to transfer.
(I try not to use KBC for currency transfers, but wth?!)
@h @Edent @dansup he only has to open source it at the end though right? (I don't think nlnet requires you to open source throughout the dev process necessarily. Just at the end it needs to be open source)
it wouldn't be the first project that's closed source at the start (because yeah... it's not done yet and there are problems) and then open source when they declare it stable
#LibreOffice question:... is it really not possible without a macro to have Writer flip between pages?
Currently if you scroll, it scrolls. I want a single scroll action to immediately flip to the next page.
Page Down also doesn't flip an entire page.
I feel like i've used other programs before that if you set the zoom to 'entire page' would change this behavior but maybe I'm making this up, I don't know anymore
@cnx just so clear on things we're both referring to Linus tech tips Sebastian right? Who did a Linux challenge a while ago but he doesn't use Linux daily since
So Linus on the WAN show last night was talking about how he had trouble diagnosing why half his pc's weren't going to sleep. He eventually figured out that it was because half the pc's had steam running but on a store page, which means a video is playing.
Meanwhile, on Linux: #KDE plasma just has an easy built-into-the-ui indicator that tells you what is blocking sleep .... I have used this feature many times and I love it.
So yeah, I don't know who at KDE worked on this feature, but I โค๏ธ you
