I have no idea what would constitute a big turnout in Dallas. I would roughly guess between 3k and 5k people came out.

@gamingonlinux I like what Torvalds's "pure incompetence" looks like. Mine tends to be a lot more destructive..

@glyph red herring - he ignored the ethernet cable but ended up pushing the power brick off the desk!

I've been using Mission Center on Linux and it's pretty nice. I have some build ops that tend to overwhelm the system and I need to balance core vs memory budgets.
https://flathub.org/apps/io.missioncenter.MissionCenter
It's quite unstable though .. I thought software written in Rust was utterly perfect and incapable of failure .. what gives?

I've allocated time to learn cython this week, and it's going a lot worse than I was expecting. But it'll click in eventually.

@a1ba I like that Owncast is dedicated to live streaming and has a nice discovery interface on their website. Plus the easy deployment into a cloud provider.
Peertube - looks pretty well featured and solid, I might request an account on makertube.net, that gives me an excuse to use some software by Framasoft :)

Is there a Fediverse live streaming platform?

I switched my default assistant in Kagi over to R1. It's immediately obvious how much better this one is.
Showing the thinking tokens before the answer is fully formulated makes a big difference.
Plus Kagi doesn't have o1, so I think it's the first time this latest generation of models is available on the platform?

@feld I won't touch Audis these days .. their ICE cars have awful problems with all their onboard electronics .. I shudder at the idea that they are trying to make EVs now.

@feld I'll buy from another brand, possibly an American one even. I'm sure there are workers in those factories too.

@thibaultmol @lain plus you have to pay for the plan first to get access to the assistant and have some opportunity to see how it is able to continue the conversation.

@killyourfm there are great benefits to a native port, but it requires a bit of extra commitment from the developer to build, test and support a native version.
Most importantly, to avoid "unintentional breakage" in the future, the developers need to build their game against the linux runtime SDK.
This requirement tends to be ignored, which causes problems. The Steam Deck compatibility testing is helping improve this.

@gamingonlinux the web folks recommend using the zoom setting instead. The minimum font size option is essentially unsupportable (in the sense that there's always a value high enough to break a modern layout website).
