Ouch, so frustrating. Diagnosing and fixing github over https authentication problems is the worst. Typically after you clone a public repo and it'll never let you use your write access for push afterwards.

@a1ba depending where I'm working, ssh is blocked sometimes .. but yeah .. I think ssh is the way, their HTTP tokens stuff is hopeless.

@SheepZone it's not officially supported either, but I hear it fares much better. Last time we looked at it there were concerns about performance overhead in some situations.

Valve is seeing an increasing number of bug reports for issues caused by Canonical's repackaging of the Steam client through snap.

The best way to install Steam on Debian and derivative operating systems is to follow the instructions at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/#getting-started and use the official .deb

We are not involved with the snap repackaging. It has a lot of issues.

If you don't want the .deb, please at least consider the flatpak version.

@thomasfuchs surely you don't mean iOS. It may have an open source lineage, and some bits are still open, but it can't be reasonably qualified as "open source".

@Cheeseness I also found that the conditionals are not necessarily evaluated on the line where you set the breakpoint .. it's a debug build but does have some minimum levels of optimization enabled.

Ouch - that's a new one for me, breakpoint conditionals with side effect .. e.g. `appid = 3830` when I should have typed `appid == 3830`.

It's been 0 days since I last compiled on one branch while testing on the other.

Hot take: yes, google is evil but imo the whole thing about slowing down FireFox is so obvious and dumb that I can't assume it's malicious or intentional.

Start of day 3 in the debugging cave. I'm getting close I can feel it.

This release should have significantly improved compatibility on modern systems.

The issues related to tcmalloc in particular are a thing of the past now.

This release has been very thoroughly tested .. on Windows!

The Linux build has had significantly fewer gameplay hours, so we'll be watching https://github.com/ValveSoftware/csgo-osx-linux closely (or maybe setup a fresh one).

CS2 Linux is .. OUT!

Like Dota 2 a few months back, this release is using the 'sniper' linux runtime.
