@killyourfm yup, kinda amazed when a good word actually crops up. English is such a messy language!

@killyourfm I'm not sure "source" is a good word here given it's an incredibly common abbreviation for "source code". You'd have two meanings that are ambigiuous even in context.

Struggling to come up with anything unambigious...
Library - Already a different software concept
App Store - Implies shopping rather than storage

Is repo a hard thing to teach? I feel like specificity is often more important than simplicity when learning.

Hopefully there's a word that's simple *and* specific!

@grumpygamer welcome to the unfortunate fight @gamingonlinux has had to have for almost a lifetime. That and calling Windows "PC"

For the love of god can we stop anthropomorphising LLMs. No, ChatGPT did not "come up with an excuse" or "think about its mistakes". Gemini did not "lie about its reasoning" or "struggle to understand basic concepts". Grok didn't "decide to praise Nazis" or "express it's support for genocide".

They're mimics designed cynically to trick you into assigning them a humanity that they'll never have, and giving them false agency allows their designers and creators an innocence they don't deserve.

A reminder that "no politics" is in itself a political statement, and nothing is apolitical.

Can't believe how often this comes up.

    This tweet is about fosstodon.

@gamingonlinux It's not even a good joke, like it's kinda plausible in an actually interesting way. What a weird choice.

    Shoulda been Unity.

@gamingonlinux FWIW this is surely mainly to prevent F2P ad-funded games publishing and distributing on Steam and Valve not taking a single penny

On the other hand this isn't the first time AMD have strongly implied deeply bogus info...

@gamingonlinux AFAIK this is specifically because Threads is one of the networks that downplays any external links, because it's optimising for retention *within* Threads.

@gamingonlinux yup, best guess at the moment, current culprit might be the one I routed all the way up through the floor and I really don't want to have to redo that one.

Downloads have been a little slower than expected (like 100Mbps) for a while, somehow my dumb brain assumed it must be the service uploads or something. Dumb me never did a speed test. I'm getting 1/10th my gigabit. What.

Free to play Marvel Rivals is out now on Steam and works on Steam Deck / Linux (Steam Deck has issues though)
Marvel Rivals is the next big multiplayer shooter and potentially the next big thing, with a Steam free to play release now live.
