Because we often FEEL like it's good to "consume a lot of information" (reading a million stackoverflow threads/throwing prompt after prompt into a window), we can waste a ton of time & exhaust ourselves. Kind of like the work version of browsing social media. Instead, choose small targeted effort over hours of meandering and browsing. This is often called "deliberate practice" and planning WHAT and WHY you are practicing a thing is far more effective. Do it sooner than you feel like
@CityHoosier closed captions for sports is just a bad experience from what I've always seen. I imagine it's even worse in a fast paced sport like hockey... At least in football they literally have a pause between plays and it's still usually slow.
@danielholt@hockey I'll lean Florida but I think it's close. So far Bad Bob hasn't made an appearance but Stuart Skinner actually lost his net to Calvin Pickard already in the playoffs. Let's all collectively root for the over in goals scored
@skyfaller wow it's hard to beat sourcing them from your own neighborhood! We're trying to turn our hill into wildflower meadow so we went with a few mixes that are just found in PA.
@skyfaller how "local" are you aiming for? Are we talking "South Eastern PA/Delaware" or just "PA local"? Curious where you got your seeds and plants from
@danielholt its a series of bots that reposts content they are tagged in. Just follow the bit and you will see posts from other users that it boosts. There are several different sports on that server that each have their own bot. I've noticed that folks seemed to be more active in the regular season. Or at least I was more active following it.
@danielholt I missed your poll just like I've missed so much of these playoffs this year. I think the hashtags only work so well which is why I also follow and tag @hockey. that seems to be a lot better approach especially coming from a small server.
@grimalkina@mononcqc@CSLee yeah I feel like only very recently has there been any real guidance for folks above senior at all and we’re just on the cusp of a broader understanding of the ways it can look like. Sometimes it’s “here is this amazingly detailed technical blog post” but a lot of the time it’s going to be what used to be considered “soft skills” like “here is how I’m learning to use my seniority to be comfortable being vulnerable so I can model it for others” - and yes, the cost that comes with that.
