      I’ve looked into this some more and if you compare the President’s trophy winner to the other division winners (because the PT winner is automatically going to also win their division)
      Years 1986 -1998 there were 4 divisions and 16 playoff teams. In those 13 years a division winner won the Cup 5 times (38%) which is slightly better than average given that 4 of 16 means division winners represent 25% of playoff teams.

        Of the last 39 Presidents trophy winners 8 (20.5 %) have won the Stanley Cup. Considering 1 in 16 teams wins the Stanley cup each year (6.25 %) I’d say it’s not cursed. #StanleyCupFinals #NHL #HNOM
