I've chosen to bite my tongue about a group that I'll call absolutist AI abolitionists - mostly because they're directionally correct: allowing olligarchs to implement their corporate surveillance state with zero accountability has pretty negative affect on society. Not to mention the environmental impact of burning loads of trees so that shiny new data centers can go brrrrrrrr seems pretty short-sighted and counter-productive.
@skinnylatte we are... not the same. And that's ok!!! For at least the next 2 weeks, it will be above 85 and sticky as all hell in Mass. You should totally come out and enjoy yourself :)
What I loved about the #badbunny#halftime - he was a wandering observer, allowing us to see his world through his eyes. He was the narrator, letting us into his jaunt through PR culture.
It's the selflessness that got me. It's not "look at me" it's "look at all this"
For my #massachusetts and #boston#BostonMA friends - follow the link for a great deal with a local heritage grain CSA. Lots of heritage varieties of grains, flour, beans, and rice shares. I've been a member for 4+ years now - highly recommend!
For evangelicals, the apocalypse comes in the form of Armageddon and the 2nd coming. For TESCREALists, apocalypse comes in the form of runaway AI and the enslavement or destruction of all humanity.
Both are bleak in outlook, and both wish for the worst to justify their sadistic impulses
It's amazing to me that both the secular and evangelical cults within MAGA are apocalyptic in nature, with their own versions of "the rapture". For TESCREALists, it's the singularity. For Evangelicals, it's disappearing into the ether to "meet with Jesus"
That way they can claim that their terrible behavior was needed in order to "save society". Both claim the need to destroy society in order to "cleanse" or "purify" it, thus saving it.
IT'S MASS MURDER AND EUGENICS ALL THE WAY DOWN, NO MATTER HOW YOU SLICE IT.
Not sharing the video, because I don't want to traumatize folks more than they already are, but to do not one but *three* nazi salutes from the post-inauguration rally stage is one of those signature moments that I fear is just the beginning. I take this as a declaration of intent, essentially a declaration of war on the rest of us.
Perhaps we should start painting swastikas on cybertrucks to drive home the point.
@luis_in_brief@skinnylatte@Bronwyn Yes for sure - but Noah's point was that NBA champions calling themselves "world champions" was absurd. You can argue the NBA champion is the world's best but his point stands.
So when USA men won gold last summer they made sure to throw shade at Noah like... you happy now? lol
@luis_in_brief@skinnylatte@Bronwyn Don't doubt that at all. I freely admit that Lyles was trolling. I'm just saying I enjoyed it the troll lol - but I do get annoyed with any pro team, and these are usually American teams, calling their champions "world champions". It always irks me. I don't doubt that an NBA champion would likely thump any other international team, but we can't actually know that if there's no competition.
@skinnylatte ha my wife and I were literally talking this morning about how boring (her words) northern chinese food is - "it's just jiao this and jiao that and some noodles" 😆
Anti-racist anti-fascist anti-authoritarian Anti-social lol He/himAnd we're lost in the woods, somewhere in New Jersey, and we're not gonna make it to LA
