You may have articulated a key point about migrations.
They only work if people stay on the old platforms and use them to promote their authentic self on new platforms.
The boycott method doesn't work for these systems.

"Republicans for a King" is a hell of a reverse ferret when you think about it.
From the mouth of babes, the tooth at last.

"That puts the most crazy copyright owner as an equal participant in deciding whether or not generative AI can work the way the model makers want it to"
Er, boys, that's law. Let's rephrase that so you know what utter villains you are:
"That puts the most crazy grocer as an equal participant in deciding whether or not the business of apple pies can work the way the great apple thieves want it to."
Ask/pay first, you knobs.
Could use your skills on Inkscape (C++, graphics). Though, you're looking for paid work, and we're not there yet with funding models.
One day though I hope to be able to offer folks actual jobs 😅
Good luck with the search!
There's a WiFi logo you can put in the warning triangle instead of the electricity logo.
This is my own suggested design.
SVG available.
Attention #inkscape testers. While we wait for an actual alpha release, you can use the downloads which I've just fixed the links for here: https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.4.x/
I recommend using the AppImage if you're on #linux and the dmg/7z files should be fairly straightforward for other operating systems.
Oh, and thanks, user #testing is still the main way Inkscape finds bugs before releases while we work on building our test suites. ❤️
One could spend 25 years cultivating an online persona with an ironic nickname instead.
Just saying. 🧐😅
My Samsung galaxy S5 has all of those. It's a 10yo phone, but solid and upgraded with lineageOS so is actually quite modern.
But yes android is getting worse over time.
Regulation is not restriction, it is codification of expectation and standardisation by excluding abusive behaviors.
This week's #inkscape update video is out. And it's loooonnng, and me reading you a spreadsheet.
Artists love spreadsheets right? 🤪
I've digested 500 youtube comments to distil just what is wrong with Inkscape (according to #affinity users) and it's kinda interesting: https://tilvids.com/w/9jZ87HCLTUBZyCZtsRj3Z3
It's interesting that with #affinity being acquired by #canva users respond with their hope that it doesn't now enshitify.
And I kind of feel: People know. They *know* that these companies are unsafe stewards of their work tools. But invest in that system regardless.
Not sure how to convince people to invest in open source instead so this kind of thing *can't* happen. Not just hope won't, but structurally can't happen.
I'm looking for a more up to date distro than @system76's popos and linux mint which are both based on Ubuntu 22.04 and are now too old for #inkscape development (gtk4 issues).
I've tried Fedora and it's just not very good. I could use it just as a building OS, but having to reboot to get into a nice desktop isn't a great setup.
And I'm *really* lazy, so no arch, gentoo, etc.
And no Ubuntu. I don't do enshitified linux.
Any thoughts?
I think I'll be forced to use Fedora.
Between being forced to use Ubuntu and being forced to use Fedora. I think I'm bleeding from the edginess of Gtk4 development. Kinda wish jhbuild had worked, but no dice.
I can't see any of the other distros being stable enough really. I watched the linked video a few times, but not much in it as not all distros are up to date.

"Philosophy rooted in libertarianism doesn't understand or care about economics. More dog bites man after the next commercial break."
The problem with the reactionary philosophies from Redis et al is their baby with bathwatering of the assurance framework of multi stakeholder and non profit leadership.
Trust and money must be possible together in any successful Foss system.

The linking of buses to poor people is one of the more corrosive propaganda successes of the car industry.
Being alone isn't strength.
In the neighbourhood association business; people who walk and bus are involved in their communities more, even if they also drive. It's car *dependence*, not car ownership that breaks community bonds and feeds a lonely and unsustainable lifestyle.
"The car, but not only the car."

Rebrand,
it's the American way!
Let's just call everything cops. Book cops are librarians, fire cops obvs, transit cops (but for actually driving the bus), kid cops (teachers) and kidney cops (surgeons)
We can even keep the whole "marginalised-groups-get-more" thing, but you know, just more teaching/health/etc instead of violence.
Requim, Free Software has never been a socialist project. The convergences are coincidental. And if you ask the old guard, a lot of them are libertarians who to be honest seem to think software development budgets come from universities or parents.
There is a lot more about the economics of Software Freedom, and also the economics of cohesion, control, convenience and community.
