@Loukas well people should have been paying more attention over the last 30+ years to warnings about climate change. It really sucks that the people all over the world who will be most affected have the least influence on politics and policy.

I now hear a weird low hum outside. I think it's the cicadas. I now see the shells or whatever they're called everywhere. There are several on the front door and a newly emerged one was hanging out on the door this morning. @sunguramy

I need some new science fiction to read, who has some suggestions? I don't like military sci-fi. For reference, my favorite series is the Expanse, I also enjoyed Scalzi's Collapsing Empire, I love Robert Charles Wilson's books. I mostly enjoy space operas and unique stories about technology, for example I really liked the recent book Mountain in the Sea about AI and intelligent octopus. Brunch today was a bust, the restaurant we wanted to go to had an 80 minute wait. 😳 We went to a Mexican restaurant across the street and it was great, vegetarian fajitas! Even though I'm trying to eat vegan as much as possible I thought hmmm maybe I'll get some cheese dip, but then I noticed a small bowl was $7.25. Nope. That used to be the price for an entire meal. Total for basic veggie fajitas: $23. This is why I rarely eat at restaurants anymore.

I really enjoyed the new movie the Fall Guy, It was entertaining with great stunts and great music. It was also very funny, plus there's a dog in it. Lots of fun shoutouts to the original TV show that I know I watched but only vaguely remember. #Movies #TheFallGuy

@darnell @mycotropic @randahl it will be impossible to destroy Hamas, and every day this continues will only ensure there are more recruits. This is also making the US less secure because we'll be the target for supporting war crimes. I mean I'm not an expert in this, how should I know. I've long thought what's going on there is unsolvable because everyone involved is so resistant to compromise. But I want to withhold $ and weapons until Israel allows in unrestricted food and medical aid.

@darnell @mycotropic @randahl and it doesn't seem to me like the IDF is terribly interested in getting the hostages back since they kill those who escape and are probably killing most of the rest with their indiscriminate bombing.

@darnell @randahl people are starting to starve. The current death toll is probably a guess, but it's not a guess to say many more people are about to die from lack of food because Israel has blocked all aid. I consider that a war crime. It's disgusting what they're doing, they are behaving no better than Hamas.
