A man gunned down in a hail of bullets in the Spanish province of Alicante has been identified as Maxim Kuzminov, a Russian military helicopter pilot who had defected to Ukraine with his aircraft. He was in Spain using a new identity and his body was identified by his fingerprints.
The Kremlin didn't deny he was a target but has since dismissed his death as "irrelevant".
