@Dicey I think there just aren't enough bad photos of him in circulation, it's a running joke in Russia how photographers follow a hard set of rules to make him look taller and overall nicer in the photos — and another one about his shoes which are supposedly more like boots, also to make him look taller. The funniest part is that a lot of that might be true 😅 So every foreign trip, when photographers not from a carefully chosen pool were admitted, brought us something funny like this. Which isn't that bad TBH, considering his age, and yet it's a stark contrast, compared to the brushed up image he strives for domestically. Now with the ICC ruling his trips to the countries where this could happen are out of the question so there would be no more "masterpieces" like this one. Trump — I'm not a fan of his, but rather than his looks, this is probably due to brilliance of his mind (I'm a huge fan of COVFEFE meme though 😆). The only thing that is offputting in his looks to me is his tan — looks very unnatural TBH. And yes, I agree, he does have a certain apey vibe to him, him having one of those funky red arses is something I would easily believe in 😂 @Owl
@LukeAlmighty@roboneko@beardalaxy Likewise, I'm a bit surprised to learn that people resort to hair styling to look like a skidzo, I think I'm a natural 😅
@Hyolobrika Making a SoundCloud or BandCamp account is preferable in this case, you can find people who are interested in music on Fedi too, but such posts would most certainly drown in shitposting and general chatter.
@kirby@lina That's the new feature of Masterdont: reports get propagated to every instance users from which were mentioned in the thread the reported post is in. You can literally report people's cats to annoy the fuck out of every admin so they start reverting that patch and blocking everyone who didn't: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/27219
@kirby@tk Probably to protect users from old filebomb prank which existed since the BBS times: you could upload a zipped file, which BBS then was supposed to decompress, the original file was the same character repeated millions of times, but in compressed form it was tiny. The BBS started decompressing the file, the hard drive filled up and BBS could no longer work in such borked up state. So maybe it's something similar — to avoid files that could fill users' drives up from being transmitted, 2 gigabytes was still a lot at the time — three CDs worth of data, more than anybody would be willing to send over IM at the time. Or maybe they have made it less than full DVD to prevent piracy — could be that :marseyhmm: Anyway, I don't think anyone would consider 2 gigabytes not enough then.
@kirby It had worked exactly the same way in Skype, even the video calls had been p2p, I'm not sure if it started with MS acquisition or earlier, but they began phasing out the p2p parts at some point — but even when it was Microsoft already, file transfers were still direct, they weren't uploaded anywhere for the other party to download it, one party initiated the transfer, the other one had to accept and choose the directory to save the file in, I don't remember when everything started to get uploaded to "the cloud", but AFAIR, not even that long ago, less than a decade. @tk
@kirby High encryption? Is this when you encrypt something being really high and then fail to recall where you have saved the decryption key? :marseysmug3:
@lina Oh come on, you don't expect anyone to buy you Counter Strike skins — you do it solely to annoy these people. And they might be even asking money for heroin or otherwise be the worst people the world has seen, but at least they don't tag you in their endeavors against your will. You do things to annoy them, inviting them to play your game, but they don't want to play with you and block you — very logical! inb4: you're no fun :marseysmug2: @kirby@eric@meso
@lina Because you obviously do this to annoy people? :marseyshrug: I got blocked by a couple of people in a thread where some mutual aid group was tagged, even though we were discussing server storage/hard disks at that point. At least they weren't from the crowd who blocks whole instances for that. @kirby@eric@meso
@lina You can still see everything by switching to the replies tab — there is no way to filter out the clever and sarcastic replies to all those guys I barely know in PleromaFE. Having choice is good in this particular case. @kirby@meso
@lina@kirby@meso One of the things I really like about Akkoma's frontend is that it can show posts without the replies on user's profile page — like Masto does.
