@kirby@lina@MercurialBeige Yeah, it's true, you can just drop a file somewhere in instance/static subdir. I think the nginx way is still preferable as it takes less resources to use it for static content.
@waifu@kirby > crude and ugly looking clients How dare you?! They even go out of their way not to bother you with such stupid things as certificate having a different fingerprint all of a sudden, so Hetzner can keep MITMing you for months without anyone noticing — very user-friendly!
@Cocoa Looks nice! Unrelated question: can I deactivate the account used by blockbot, won't it prevent it from functioning? I have a randomly generated password for it ATM, but I don't know if it even makes sense and maybe I can just deactivate to make it impossible to login as blockbot user :marseyhmm: @mischievoustomato
@dcc This GIF and not the one of Big Lebowski being thrown a coffee mug at? This is the thing I expect from you the least! :marseyemojismilemoutheyes: @SAKURARadiochan
@Dudebro For women it also goes out of the window real fast — they realize that shooting videos of how they shove VLC up their asses gives them mental health issues, but they have to keep on as it becomes their source of income and finding other source of income gets too problematic at this point — the longer you do it the less valuable skills you have (there are exceptions of course and there are those who use money earned by shoving VLC up their asses to educate themselves — but this takes an insane amount of willpower, very few are capable of this), and going for some low-income job would lead to a drop in quality of life at this point. I have a theory that OnlyFans is popular precisely because of this — not because people want to see gitls' tits and asses — there are pictures and videos of tits and asses all over the Internet for free. Subscribers like to watch girls (and in rare cases boys too) develop mental health issues. @roboneko@rees@Tony
@kaia That's the most logical next step, when just behaviour that makes you completely unappealing to women no longer cuts it you have to go for more radical measures :marseysmug2:
@romin@kaia@hj Exactly! And with a tiny bit of extra effort I have even made it look good. My only gripe about it is that it seems to load backend a bit more — I don't have much to spare in this department. Shouldn't be a concern for everybody else 🤷
@kaia What I strive for is below 1 Mb for images — but this doesn't mean that it should be achieved at any cost, avoiding WebPee is still mandatory. PNGs should be used for screenshots if they mostly have text in them and little to no images or JPEG if they have images, but quality should be high enough so text remains readable and there are no visible compression artifacts. Songs should be in the 5 Mb ballpark, MP3 or AAC for better compatibility. Videos shouldn't be posted at all in any forms other than links, but having vids below 10 Mb is acceptable I suppose.
@dcc apulse solves this problem for me — last time I did videoconferencing with Firefox was a few months ago, but it used to work. It might give you a tiny lag, but it's barely noticeable during video calls and otherwise works perfectly. Definitely worth checking out! @david
