@joaocosta @d3x7r0 the disparity between flying and taking rail between Lisboa and Porto really makes that point as well. I’ve taken that trip at least 40 times, and usually the flight is half the price and takes a quarter of the time. Then there’s the possibility of strikes, I’m getting saudades just thinking about it all. Now I need a super bock.

@d3x7r0 @joaocosta Europe in general should impose taxes on tourists and direct the funds to infrastructure. Make the EITAS €14 instead of €7, that alone could generate an easy billion euros annually. I’m sure the average American would complain loudly, but that’s probably only what they spend on frappucinos in a single day.

@BethanyBlack sorry for this ridiculous deep cut reply, but I finally got to watch the Barbie movie(my daughter gives zero fucks about anything that’s not dinosaur related) and wanted to say I’m so glad for your recommendation to watch. A far better film than than what you’d expect Hollywood to deliver, particularly about a doll.

@dansup @pixelfed I definitely think admins should be able to easily monetise instances. I haven’t looked into hosting an instance in a while, but the last time I did I declined to do so because unfortunately I couldn’t see how it wouldn’t end up being an costly distraction.

@fsfe so this, and that government funded R&D should mean ALL derived research papers, patents and copyright are free public domain. A small exception for national security, but then the results would be classified, after declassification enter public domain. Use taxpayer money, then it should belong to everyone.

@dansup @pixelfed from a design perspective the one on the right has better readability, the rainbow roundel adds unnecessary complexity.
