@Hoss@shitpost.cloud Yeah, I just don't know about Rebased's database. I would never have used Rebased/Soapbox and I suspect a large portion of the appeal behind it was solely Gleason's penchant for free speech, etc.. Because, really, it was kinda F-tier as far as instance softwares are concerned.

@Hoss@shitpost.cloud As a matter of protocol I really want to like Nostr. I'm actually surprised there aren't a ton of clients out there for it. But, again, it's widely unused and the culture/community is garbage. And the clients that do exist are trash. I just opened up a client to search for accounts to follow, searched for "photography" and "Fujifilm" as search terms......all results are Fediverse accounts, and all profiles therein I try to follow throw an error about unable to follow. It's just a broken, unutilized, janky protocol based on a good idea in theory but horrible execution with no population.

@Hoss@shitpost.cloud Lol here's how abandoned Nostr is of real people: I just found my own posts from a week ago federated on there via mostr.pub on the "Photography" search term. Just a few scrolls down and my week old posts are there. That tells me that basically nobody is on this network talking about anything. Digital ghost-town.

Virtually all of the content on Nostr, at least what I'm seeing, is Fediverse content being bridged in. We're (us, here, on the Fediverse) essentially populating the network with content for them.

Also appears that deletes don't federate.

That's what people like OP are upset about, that they cannot control other people's speech or ideas, or that they lack the means by which to hurt and punish people for WrongThink. They know how to not see content or users they dislike. They know they can filter it out or use locked-down intranet/oligarchy instances. That's not enough: they don't want you to be free. They don't want you to have the freedom to say or do what you want.

@kirby@lab.nyanide.com I don't know what problems it would cause, I can't see anything like that. But, I just think it's better practice to subdomain services and also allows for being able to spawn up multiple deployments if you fucked up. For example, if you've been federating with other servers for a while and severely screw your instance and lack any database backups you can't really re-deploy on the same domain otherwise you'll have mad federation problems. This instance (soc0) was actually meant to be a test instance but the idea was that any future revisions could just go up sequentially in number lol e.g. soc1, soc2... @yakumo_izuru@misskey.m544.net

An added benefit of running a Pleroma instance (other than the markedly reduced system demand pulled from JavaScript) would be compatibility with a bunch of client apps, including desktop apps.

I think I might try to install Pleroma just for fun.
