     I’m so sorry. It’s infuriating that this goes on at all, let alone with such depressing consistency. And it’s especially frustrating that any time someone mentions it, (white) people jump in to say no that can’t be, prove it.

     I don’t know the solution, but for starters, can we stop pretending this isn’t a real problem? We’re way past isolated incidents or misunderstandings. Almost every Black person here describes the same kind of experiences.

     Twitter was very highly censored and controlled. I don't get why people on the left were bitching about Musk. He's literally made Twitter less free and less useful in every way.
     
     Also, don't bitch about Fediverse. It makes you seems like a child. Just block people who you don't like. It's your responsibility on here and no one else's. If you don't want that responsibility, use a server with a nice daddy big-brother style moderator to keep all the bad people away from your child smooth brain. That's what people like OP are upset about, that they cannot control other people's speech or ideas, or that they lack the means by which to hurt and punish people for WrongThink. They know how to not see content or users they dislike. They know they can filter it out or use locked-down intranet/oligarchy instances. That's not enough: they don't want you to be free.      What you're referring to as Mastodon is in fact the Fediverse. You see, Mastodon is just one of many possible software projects that interact with the wider Fediverse through a protocol called #ActivityPub. There are many other projects you can use, Mastodon isn't the only one, nor was it the first. Pretending it is either of those things is doing a huge disservice to all the people who made the Fediverse what it is. Originally, the protocol in use was OStatus and GNU Social was one of the first convenient instances - Mastodon came much later and ended up doing a huge disservice to the Fediverse by intentionally removing support for OStatus abruptly even though the warriors of GNU noted ActivityPub would be implemented within 3-4 months. Thus, the warriors of GNU were not amused by the intentional segregation of the network and the GNU+Jihad on the Fediverse was born - the warriors are interjecting to this day, despite how many people call it "Mastodon" by mistake.
