When I was in high school, a bunch of kids pulled me into a dark corner, beat me up and splashed hot chocolate fresh from the vending machine over me.

Not an unusual occurence, back in the eighties. Those things happened, at least at my school. Not just to me.

Then a teacher came along, shoed the perps away and told me to clean myself up, and then come back and clean the place up.

That's what I am reminded of most when I read about the UK hight court verdict about trans women.

@skinnylatte I might be weird, but my favorite breakfast is pickled herring, smoked mackerel, hot fish cakes and pickles with toasted rye bread and maybe an egg. And I'm not even Scandinavian.

But I sure enjoyed my hotel stays in Finland when I still was a Nokia contractor.

Oh, wait. my favorite breakfast is also idli with sambar or dosas.

It's also bacon pancakes with molasses, the think kind, not the fluffy kind.

@skinnylatte But where can you get good soy sauce... I have Pearl River brand ew sauce, kikkoman not very good sauce and something brewed locally, in Rotterdam of all places, but I think even the proprietors of the local Asian shops use Pearl River.

When it comes to laojiu, the shops only have salted, sweetened stuff, and I cannot get anything that's really worth cooking with, let alone drinking.

I hadn't heard of peanut milk, but now I'm wondering whether I could use it to make hot chocolate, too.

@davidrevoy I really wish we could make building Krita easier... For the Qt6 port, I'm actually using only distribution packages to see how far I can get. But working with the upstread Qt project can be really hard, and we need sooooo many patches to make Qt work well on all four platforms we support!

I've been with @LWN since -- I think 2003? I think it's the best, maybe only trustworthy, archive of what is going on in the open source/free software world, one that's been going for ages. I'm paying for my subscription.

But I simply hate how much the commentariat has dwindled to a small number of extremely contentious people who don't seem to be interested in the issues at hand, but only in catching flies of each other.

I think I might have blocked every regular commenter by now.

@Quinnypig I hereby, as the #krita maintainer give everyone officially the right to verb "krita" and say "the image was krittered."

Or "kritaed" or whatever you may make of it: krita is a trademark, and you can play with it to your heart's content. (Except for selling counterfied spyware laden versions in app stores or on ebay.)

@renchap The amount of money Adobe probably spents on toilet paper for its offices is, even after work from home, probably more than the funding #krita gets 🙂

@goatsarah I kept the egg unbroken until after same-sex marriage was legal, and afer that, I thought I was too old. Until I thought I wasn't too old, and came out at fifty.

@goatsarah It would have been legally mandated, in our part of the world. It would just have been an automatic thing: two women cannot be married.

@goatsarah Back then transitioning would've meant automatic divorce and separatiojn from my children.

Of course, these days, my kids don't want to know me, but at least my wife and I are still together!

The Dutch police just now jemmied my front door, walked into my bedroom, yelled at me, then left after I yelled at them. I admit I had a panic attack, they denied it was Max Hertzdahl from restaurant Jackies who called them in.

Still. Four police agents? When I was assaulted in the street for being trans, it was one agent, two weeks later, who came to take my statement.

Also, I gotta move. My front door was jemmied -- by the police.

@NeonPurpleStar Pity that I don't fly anymore, at all. Flying has always scared me senseless, and already before the pandemic started I had decided I would never, ever get into a plane again.

@n0toose I tried to figure out how to get to Thessaloniki for @kde 's Akademy conference, but that was absolutely a no go. Also because those warning systems, of course...
