@sll @aral unpopular opinion: I'm starting to get annoyed about all this forced labeling. The world is a range of skin shades and deciding what is white and what isn't is arbitrary in many cases, even more so with an increasingly number of mixed ethnicities kids.
The only thing that should count is the nationality.

I can't relate for the first one but I know how tough it can be to take care of a parent. I hope that the situation will soon improve. Stay strong!

@youronlyone@c.im @youronlyone@firefish.social I haven't tried the ones you mentioned, so I wouldn't be able to compare.
Reverso does a decent job translating directly from/to other languages, not only English. That's a feature most engines lack. -

@youronlyone@c.im @youronlyone@firefish.social during your tests have you translated to English or to other languages as well? Reverso is my favorite for Western languages, because it provides examples of context usage too

@youronlyone I suppose that Koreans will still consider two people of the same age if they were born in the same year.
Do you think that they will address people differently just because of few months separating their birth day?

@annika while Facebook was only a thing in American schools and colleges, threads is more generic and it applies to any web discussion

It's annoying that Meta picked Threads as name. It leads to misunderstandings when talking about discussion threads.

@youronlyone@c.im @youronlyone@calckey.social whatever the brand, some electronics components are manufactured in China only. I do pay attention to what I'm buying and I try to limit Chinese products as much as possible, but let's face it, boycotting them entirely is impossible today

@youronlyone for most Italians #pineapple on #pizza is heresy.
Here's why: a good tomato sauce, made with high quality #Italian tomatoes, provides a level of acidity that doesn't go well with pineapple. If you even consider the taste of a good mozzarella, sweetness coming from fruits is entirely off-putting in the mix.
Pizza made abroad doesn't often have a good tomato sauce and real mozzarella, therefore pineapple can make it better. -

@youronlyone so many school days! I wonder if kids didn't get too tired in the 90s.
There have been discussions recently about changing the Italian school calendar, because 3 summer months are too long and it's a big issue for parents as well, when they don't have grandparents to help them.
But teachers are very conservative and it's difficult to change their minds. Plus the heat would be unbearable.

@youronlyone beaches in the Philippines must be truly breathtaking! I saw some pictures from people on vacation and it's lovely! Italian kids have a 3-months school break. From June to September. It's too hot otherwise to seat in a classroom without air conditioning. The rest of the year they don't have many breaks though, just 2 weeks for the new year and one week for Easter.

@youronlyone in Italy it's when summer school break starts. People living near the beach spend their lunchtime sunbathing and all sorts of festivals are happening.
In France it's the last month of school and flea markets period continues from May until September. And you can easily find ice-cream sellers in the historical city center.
How is June in the Philippines?
