   A lot of people, around the world, are anti-China (mainland) but are using #Android phone brands like:

   2. #OnePlus (spin-off of Oppo)
   3. #Vivo
   4. #iQOO (spin-off of Vivo)
   5. #Realme

   Other companies:
   6. #Xiaomi
   7. #Honor
   8. #Huawei
   9. #ZTE
   10. #Lenovo
   11. #Meizu
   12. #Poco (spin-off of Xiaomi); #Pocophone

   Owned by Transsion Holdings:
   13. #Infinix
   14. Tecno Mobile (#TecnoMobile)
   15. #Itel

   Aside: Brands 1–14 listed above are available here in the #Philippines, even though some of those were made exclusively for certain countries and regions (and you wouldn't even see the Philippines mentioned in news and wikis).

   Many of these brands already overtook #Apple, #Motorola, #Nokia, and even #Samsung in many countries, as far as sales are concerned.

   So the question is:

   If the accusations and assumptions against these companies are true, where do we draw the line?

     We're probably entering that point wherein we can not just “ban” products from the mainland.

     @s1m0n4 Yeah. They're integral in tech now. They're also the ones pushing innovations these days, and the ones challenging the global market.

     I mean, for example, Oppo and Realme models usually have the largest internal storage and RAM, for mid-range phones. Specs usually found in higher models from other brands like Samsung and Nokia.

     @youronlyone@c.im @youronlyone@calckey.social whatever the brand, some electronics components are manufactured in China only. I do pay attention to what I'm buying and I try to limit Chinese products as much as possible, but let's face it, boycotting them entirely is impossible today

     Ooh! Now that you mentioned it, I think I remember there was news Motorola was bought. Have to check.

     I didn't know about Honor and Huawei as well. They sure know how to sell phones by creating new brands. LOL.

     I even once thought Realme was from Taiwan until today.

     @youronlyone@c.im @youronlyone@calckey.social I'd just like to point out Honor is just Huawei's alt account, some phones between the two brands are even completely identical besides the branding
     
     also isn't Motorola owned by Lenovo?

     @Reiddragon A strategy that only came from mainland China. LOL.

     I'm also thinking, other than what you mentioned, to make it less Chinese? When Oppo and Vivo first came out, I thought those were NA brands.

     @youronlyone@c.im @youronlyone@calckey.social yeah, Honor is just offbrand Huawei, some phones are downright the same like the Huawei G Play Mini and Honor 4C (literally identical except for the branding and a letter in the model number, one of them is a CHC, the other is a CHM, forgot which is which but it doesn't really matter)
     
     but yeah, Idk why they keep making new brands when nothing changes, maybe to make themselves look like small guys since most people don't bother to look into which brands are owned by the exact same company?
