@gwynnion Democratic leadership doesn't want to change or retire, or even listen to anyone outside their elite social circle. So they fixate on their friends the op ed writers (or Chuck Schumer's imaginary family) that validate them doing that. They really need to listen to actual people, or even better yet, retire and stop getting in the way.

Look the basic problem is that a lot of people don't actually think that all other people are actually people deserving of being treated with respect.
Like to me the American Dream is that "all people are created equal" and have the "unalienable rights", including to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". (It also meant this to Dr. King when he told us about his Dream, since you probably care more about his opinion than mine.)
The USA has always been pretty good to the people it considers people and protected by rights, its multitude of sins are in all the ways that it didn't treat people as people. Like we are doing right now.
There was a post on here the other day about how Worf is the only Klingon who takes Klingon culture seriously when everyone else lives it performatively, and I sometimes feel that way about American culture.
It is your civic duty, your patriotic duty to treat others equally. These are the aspirational values of our country. I wish others felt the power of that.

I like (hate actually) that my works security training about recognizing suspicion domains, which includes tips to watch out for suspicious domains or TLDs, is provided to me in an email I have to click, in a link that is my org (subdomain), then someone else's site that is not under my org's domain or TLD. Feels like a joke.

@Whistlerinthedarkages At least make him burn political capital and goodwill to shut it down. Like they could be fighting all this soooo much harder, and this should have been one of the easier fights.

Costco has the mini orchid and lucky bamboo sets for $22, and the Lunar New Year Good Fortune set for $69 if you want to pick either up.

@jargoggles @gwynnion talking about a meritocracy and rewarding hard work while doing stuff like lowering the estate tax. Since inheriting momey is obviously the most meritorious and hardworking thing you can do.

@blogdiva I read that and like... I stopped respecting that person ages ago, but wow.
Biden appointed Lina Khan, and some of the infrastructure stuff is good for climate (and good in general), and he did a few decent things here or there but otherwise... Kept Trump's immigration policies, stopped covid prevention efforts, slowwalked any accountability for powerful people who committed crimes (but supported cops), and let a lot of policies aimed at supporting regular Americans expire. Then supporting genociede like you said. He was very much a centrist president.

@skinnylatte I like the El Yucateco XXXtra, used to add it to my cup of noodles to bring it up a level. I've become fond of Melinda's Hot Sauces, their Ghost Pepper and Scorpion Pepper sauces have a decent taste while bringing some spice. I've been using them as a hot sauce when I make tacos, and they are perfect in that they actually register as spicy, but don't overwhelm the dish.
Do you have a favorite hot sauce from what you grew up on?

@Gargron @seachanger I won't profess to be as much of an activityPub expert as you, but would it be possible to amend 7.1.2 Forwarding from Inbox in such a way as to allow you to control which replies are forwarded, and maybe add a signature? Then you would have a way of knowing which replies were "authorized" by the poster, and clients could chose to filter only "authorized" replies using a clientside setting. Could potentially also be used to moderate replies, via a revocation.
Wouldn't prevent the posting, but it would allow you to control the visibility a lot more, which I think is what most of the people asking for these tools are hoping for. You could see the unfiltered replies if you want to, but I think people would prefer not to by default.

@mcc The Berkeley-Emeryville corridor in the SF Bay Area is one of the most cursed traffic stretches in the world, and I'm convinced it's because the actual road goes North-South, but you have two freeways, 580 and 80, that say they are East-West routes *in the opposite direction* of each other. So if you are traveling North, you do so on 580 West and 80 East. Cursed.
