@wakame @f00fc7c8 i think more likely is that they'll eventually combine the iPad Pro and Macbook lines into one, running some variand of iPadOS which diverged from iOS somewhat recently

especially since the iPad Pro and Macbook applications are somewhat overlapping, and some of them even have the same CPU (M1)

from what i've seen i'm inclined to believe The Bad Space is more so just mismanaged, which i guess is at least better than outright malicious, and hopefully means it can eventually be improved

@aral the "install another OS" also has the issue of that OS needing to exist in the first place, and usually it doesn't for quite a while because turns out making Android ROMs isn't exactly that trivial

i think for that to hold any merit as a solution, at the very least the phone manufacturer should provide a base OS image without gapps on it

personally i think a reasonable middle ground would be the phone asking whether to install them in the initial setup process though

then there's the macOS .app which isn't even a zip, it's just a directory

@FuchsiaShock best (worst) part is that in a ton of cases the game/app works fine anyways if you manage to get your hands on the APK

some capitalism *could* be fine actually in a not post-state society

the issue is that the "free market" keeps showing that it's incapable of self-regulating, so instead the state must provide some baseline service for free to essentially force competition into the market, because people will get the choice to simply not buy a sevice if a capitalist's offer sucks
