    So landing on The Bad Space's blocklist provider gotten me to read the overview of that thing on https://thegoodspace.neocities.org/ and holy cats that is a trip and a half.

    Looks like this list mostly blocks trans, gay and "foreigners" (to the US that is). Block reasons are arbitrary and proof is left empty in nearly all cases. The reasons themselves rarely make sense, occasionally there's no reason at all.

    While I am personally unsure whether block lists are inherently bad, this one is definitely mismanaged or at the very least only exist as a tool for bullies.

    Oh well, on with the show. :blobcatgooglyshrug:

      @Polychrome also apparently "poor moderation, hate speech" are hardcoded as default tags for some reason, which is why they appear on basically every entry

      from what i've seen i'm inclined to believe The Bad Space is more so just mismanaged, which i guess is at least better than outright malicious, and hopefully means it can eventually be improved

      speaking of which i need to get around to writing a post about my thoughts on it at some point, not right now though
