@whitequark Good grief you're really cooking on all of these git-powerup projects. (This is admiration.)

@whitequark I've... never had that problem at all. o.O The crashing or file corruption, that is.

@whitequark After the third time AutoDesk burned me in my life I was like "Nah fuck this. Thrice you make a fool out of me." and I broke the cycle of capitalism abuse and forced myself to learn enough of FreeCAD to start doing at least some slightly more than basic stuff.
I've not yet seriously poked at it after 1.0 dropped, though. I know there's been some workflow changes, UX overhauls, and the TNP finally got fixed in the main branch after carefully merging RealThunder's codebase in.

@whitequark Ouuuhhhh okay, that connected the dots faster than I was drawing the lines in my head.
Fwiw can I take a moment to express a lot of gratitude for your swift and detailed replies? They're wonderful to help someone like me understand the context. 🙏💞

@whitequark Might you be willing to expand the acronym/initialism? I don't recognize offhand what ZIRP is supposed to mean. 😅

@whitequark Question: Is grebedoc intended to also be a more actively maintained alternative to codeberg pages as well? Codeberg has kinda put their pages feature into maintenance mode with no intentions to develop its featureset further.

@whitequark I'm curious: do you have some kind of article written up somewhere about how to self-host email?
Doesn't have to be explicitly step by step, but touching on all the bases of what one must do for a functional and reliable and spam-resilient self-hosted setup would still be quite useful. ^..^

@swetland I don't think I have enough context to fully understand this toot, especially since it seems like the mention of Arduino comes entirely out of left field right at the end.
Could you elaborate please, especially how Arduino is connected to this? ^..^;

@jessew How to defeat node_modules:
Do not use node_modules. :)
(This is meant to be a joke. I bounced pretty hard off node.js because the documentation situation amongst node modules is so atrocious I can't get anything done, and my free time and cognitive effort as a hobbyist are far too valuable to waste on shit docs, so I stick with Python.)

@jessew To give node the fair shake it deserves: It's an interesting concept! Taking Javascript to the back-end certainly reduces the count of langs to have to intimately know for full-stack work by one, and that's an enticing offer to put on the table!
...... But it requires all of the third-party module devs to step up to the plate and document their APIs thoroughly enough to be usable without wasting unnecessary time on manual API discovery because node doesn't have an extensive corelib. >:(

@aral Genuine question:
If I hosted my own private analytics tracker (something like Matomo (née Piwik), e.g.) just so I could have funny numbers to look at because I like to look at numbers but do nothing meaningful with them, would that require a cookie banner?
I'd pondered about just having a static notice in the footer of my site that just says "This site uses some functional cookies and one (1) tracking cookie for a self-hosted analytics dashboard because I like to look at Numbers™."

@xgranade @whitequark In due fairness, I think its ultimate death would be inevitable, with the replacement of PATA/IDE with SATA, since CF is electrically identical to IDE but with two extra pins for power.
I literally have buried somewhere in a box in my storage unit a CF to IDE adapter that pin-for-pin goes straight from the IDE connector to the CF slot, except for two pins on the CF slot that branch off to a small 5V aux power connector.

@cwebber I had to restrain my autistic urge to be a helpful infodumper for the time it took me to verify whether this was an actual complaint in need of a helpful response or just sarcasm that would have gotten me blown off as a "reply guy" if I said anything at all. X.x
