Wanna know a random #language fact about "Ye Olde"?

The letter thorn (þ) in Early Modern English used to be typeset using a "y" in the blackletter types that were imported from other countries where thorn did not exist in their orthographies.

The misspelling-by-necessity has long since stuck, and so "Ye Olde" is actually supposed to be read as "The Olde".

Likewise, "thou" is not supposed to be pronounced like "cow" but rather like "you". English used to have informal "you" and "thou" was it.
