On the other hand, small instances come and go but they can also have moderation issues if the instance owner has anything like a life. (I still need to get myself one of those.)

I'd consider starting my own instance, but that entail even more issue with federation etc.

So now I'm stuck. I can either stay on the bloated instance that doesn't work 100%, or I can try to find a smaller instance...

Hey beige.party users... is your instance all right? It looks like your main admin hasn't posted in a month and it's been over 24 hours since I've put in a request to join. I'll give it another day or so, but it does kind of make me worry if this is the instance that I want to move too.

This does bring up an interesting issue. On one hand, I want to leave mastodon.social because it's huge and they are obviously having issues keeping it together.

It feels weird posting from this account knowing I'll be moving if I ever get approval from beige.party (or if I get denied, somewhere else).

It's like I'm in this weird Fedi limbo.

@Taweret For me this chapter reminds me of the Taoist phrase "The Way that can be taught, is not the Way."

Vim seems to be saying something similar about the Dharma but instead focuses on the ideas that trap us in dualistic thinking. "Big" "Small" are all the same things because they have no inherent existence. All things are empty. Even the Dharma. Grasping on to how things should be learned or approached is just another attachment.

I'm always a little weary of people who use the phrase "Well I'm just keeping it real" to justify their anger or frustration at someone.

It's almost a sure sign that they have only considered their own side and fail to recognize the lived experience of another.

I need to stop caring if the people in my life understand things. It's rare that I ever can, and nothing ever changes because of it. Better to just get to the point and if they disagree, leave them to their ignorance.

I used to think that sharing knowledge was a way to care for the people I love. But most of my life has been showing me differently.
