1/n Ours is a Federal system in which there are distinct, but partially overlapping, sovereignties, each supreme in its sphere.

It has long been held that "police powers" are the realm of the state's supreme role. Indeed we see this when the Federal government could not even prosecute murders of protesters during the '60s//70's and had to resort to prosecutions based on Federal power (under 14th amendment) to enforce civil rights.

Here we have a gang of goons - an actual organization with an org chart with Kristi Noem at the top, which is openly pursuing violations of state powers - the power to pursue criminal sanctions against murders, kidnappers, etc. And also of conspiracy to murder, kidnap, etc.

So, here we have the Fed's blocking a state - Minnesota - from exercising its Constitutional, and supreme, authority, to redress these crimes.

So what would I do about it... (next post in this series)

I was thinking something like Retro (by @sonny), only that the screen counts down how much time is left. And you can add as many custom buttons below the screen as you want, with however many min/sec that the different speakers can speak.

So that when someone who has been allotted 10 min goes on stage you click the 10 min button, and it starts counting down, and when the speaker who has 2 min start you hit the 2 min button, etc.

So many seminars in the world, surely this exists?

Debating changing the ngscopeclient AI policy to be a bit more practically enforceable.

Basically, vibe coded / LLM generated code will continue to be prohibited as it tends to be low quality slop of unclear copyright provenance that is both legally risky and full of bugs.

But there won't be a explicit prohibition on trivial autocomplete usage, whether LLM based or classical dictionary based.

The rationale is based on practicality of enforcement of the current hard-line model: while I'm generally opposed to AI tools broadly from an ethical perspective, from a project governance and legal risk perspective I don't really care - and more importantly have no way to know - if you typed a variable name fully or if some pile of linear algebra completed it for you, or where the closing curly brace at the end of your function came from, etc.

So while I may not like your choice of tooling, if the code is correct I have no way to reject the contribution other than to rely on the author to out themself.

If the policy is instead basically "no slop" we have discretion to reject a PR and ban a user from further contributions if they submit an obviously machine generated incoherent garbage PR, but we don't have to nitpick over the ethics of whether a neural network generated curly brace is any different from one typed by a human if we didn't know which it was in advance.

I feel like ultimately any enforcement of such a policy will have to be subjective by the maintainer since there's not a reliable way to tell with certainty that a piece of code was machine generated unless they do something stupid like leaving the prompt in the code.

@hellomiakoda 'trying to be spoiled, vindictive, sealioning, trying to get attention, deceptive, cunning, sneaky, toxic, rude, trying to cause problems, being dramatic, etc etc etc.

So many bad bad things we are not, because they misinterpret us more often than not, and refuse to look at themselves as the ones who made a mistake when they mis-assumed our intentions.

You know what I love to hear at 10.30 pm on a Sunday night in my 12th floor apartment, when I'm in my comfiest no-bra clothes and it's cold outside?

WHOOOOOOP WHOOOOOOP. EMERGENCY. EVACUATE NOW. WHOOOOOOP WHOOOOOOP. EMERGENCY. EVACUATE NOW. WHOOOOOOP WHOOOOOOP. EMERGENCY. EVACUATE NOW.

    ... etc.

So i must put on enough clothes to avoid freezing my tits off, not knowing if I'll be out of the building for 5 minutes or if it will be all night or (gods forbid) the building is about to burn down entirely and I will never get the chance to return.

Just as I finished getting dressed, tying my bootlaces, grabbing my bag and keys, and about to walk out the door, the alarm stopped.

But I am well and truly awake now!

Once we bomb Iran, we are at war and the "emergency" gives Trump justification for all the rest of the things he wants to do - deport or assassinate anyone who has shown even a hint of dissent, invade US states, etc., etc.

So he will absolutely bomb Iran without any worry about negative consequences
