Imagine a weird world in which people are more offended by people wanting to change their genders than they are about rich people creating a situation where people work for them for almost nothing and they keep the reward; people involve themselves in other people's wars just to make money off of death; than people who want to enslave others. Oh wait. 🙃
@Black_Flag@selzero My point being that the assertion whatever struggle you're going through, you're built to deal with, you will overcome, simply isn't true. It isn't guaranteed, much as we might wish it were. The goodies don't always win, they don't always get through their struggles - the Jews, the Palistinians, the homeless, native Americans, Aboriganies, the wrongfully imprisoned, they all attest to that.
I literally hate the job that I am doing right now, which is a real shame because it's a very worthy project. It's just the politics and the time that I have voluntarily discounted, the hours I've worked for free, the software I've bought at my own cost, none of that being valued, , the goal-posts being continually shifted, my job role being changed, me being cut out of the loop that make me want to say screw the notice period and just quit.
It is a terrible indictment of the state of modern customer service that the only way you can get to speak to a real person is by threatening to leave.
Push-back works. If you're not happy with something, say so, act. Be polite at first, be firm, be understanding of the other person's point of view, but push-back does work. Had an example of that today. Sadly can't elaborate, but it's uplifted what has been a rough couple of days. Don't be afraid to try, whether you think you're the only one or not.
@Fragglemuppet Talking about how the world is ending certainly doesn't make you too cool for lighthearted things. It's just a question of balance and priorities. Everything in the right amount and all that. Who doesn't want to get back to wall to wall lightheartedness? We've just got to waid through a bunch of stuff first.
I wonder how many of the 90 million people who didn't vote, would vote if they had it to do over again. I wonder how many are wiser for that missed opportunity and will make sure not to miss future opportunities to make a difference, whatever they are.
@Fragglemuppet I find that I am unable to view a lot of posts. I assumed that was because I'd been blocked or the posts deleted or edited and were still showing up as ghosts on my TL
Okay. I'm reaching out in hopes that a patient person somewhere could explain. The US owning Gaza? Who owns it now? How would that even work? If someone could unpack that for me to unscramble my mind a little, I would so appreciate it. I mean the Palestinians would never go for that right? Drowning in ignorance.
@Fragglemuppet I learned today that rest is resistance. There's a book called that. Lol if I had more funny, positive and good stuff to post, I'd be posting it. Your toots relax people and make them feel better. Do both. Take care of yourself. Your posts help other people to take care of themselves. Do both.
@Fragglemuppet Hugs. It's not easy. Keep going. A little from everyone, all the everyone that never has before, could go a long way. I enjoyed your boost earlier.
I am seeing people on my timeline getting political that I have literally never seen be political before. Makes me tear up honestly, but happy tears. Thank you guys. Thank you for standing up. You probably hate politics. The overwhelm must be even worse for you, but we see you and thank you! I feel like there must be more to say, but I haven't the words. Keep going.
@Fragglemuppet@gocu54 It was very badly handled though. She left him while possessed and there was no closure or fallout. They all pretty much got on with their lives. I know what it's like to be that insecure. I still have flashes of it, but fortunately I found someone with the strength, honesty and patience to soothe my demons. Everyone deserves someone like that. Neelix was lovely. Wouldn't have eaten his food though.
@lynnskyi@Pawpower@gocu54@Fragglemuppet That immunity thing. That was unbelievable. I remember when NPR broke it down on UP First just before the election. It was terrififying. Really chilling news broadcast. I couldn't believe the mainstream media was telling me, as I drank my coffee, that the President can do whatever he likes and pardon whoever he likes for doing things on his behalf.
