@lynnskyi @Pawpower @gocu54 @Fragglemuppet That immunity thing. That was unbelievable. I remember when NPR broke it down on UP First just before the election. It was terrififying. Really chilling news broadcast. I couldn't believe the mainstream media was telling me, as I drank my coffee, that the President can do whatever he likes and pardon whoever he likes for doing things on his behalf.

@gocu54 @Fragglemuppet Neelix was insecure, controling, neurotic, fragile, little, loyal, sweet, dependable. I liked him a lot. I felt bad for him with Kess. I wish someone had been able to soothe his demons.

@Fragglemuppet @gocu54 @lynnskyi When I heard about the Nazi salute, I straight up cried. That Musk got away with it in the western world terrifies and saddens me. I didn't realise how much I trusted democracy to keep me safe and now I don't feel safe. I live in another country and I am afraid for my son. This isn't the world I wanted for him.

@lynnskyi @gocu54 @Fragglemuppet I'm sorry to hear it. Truly and deeply. We have to do all we can. Every one of us. We have to not bury our heads in the sand until it's too late. If not us then who. It's horrible to hear, horrible to read, horrible to feel, but the alternative is worse!

People who take a stand for civil rites should be fired, climate change's a myth, if you're a star you can grab women by the crotch when you feel like it, politicians who don't like what I'm saying of a different skin colour or ancestry should go back where they came from, Trump that we take issue with. I didn't like Bush, the Iraq war was a stain on the rep of the free world, but he was no Trump.

@gocu54 @Fragglemuppet Has someone who publically did a Nazi salute, twice! Twice! on his team, without censure. Repeatedly says things that just aren't true and have been widely and independently debunked such as widespread election fraud, which, you may notice, he didn't seem to regard as an issue when he won. He emboldens authoritarians and politics by military force everywhere. If none of that is of concern, then I dunno what to tell ya.

Looking to learn more about US social security from anyone in the know. Is it true, for example, that if someone on SSI were to get married, their benefits would be affected?

Interesting cognitive experience. We have now passed the incredulity milestone of "that would never happen. What scaremongering nonsense"; passed through the territory of "Check your sources. That's not what they actually said"; through "What ulteria motive do you have for saying this, this is confirmation bias"; and are deep in the heartland of "I struggle to believe this because I don't want to. It can't be true because that just doesn't happen. Please be lying". 😭

@Radical_EgoCom Didn't realise you weren't regarding the Democrats as a left party. Sorry. time will tell I guess.

@Radical_EgoCom But doesn't that just shift the same problem elsewhere? More left parties to divide the vote between means one right party and lots of disunited other parties. Also. Fine. The party agrees with itself. The problem of discord just gets shifted to the voters. All the ones for whom that party doesn't stand, probably won't vote for it.

@Radical_EgoCom If they have all the power, all the wealth and all the unity and we have no power, no wealth and no unity because we're too busy fighting one another, that recipe does not a victory make.

@Radical_EgoCom the ultra rich and ultra powerful know what they want -as much as possible with as little personal sacrifice as possible. they must love seeing us all run round like chickens pecking at each other.

@Radical_EgoCom All the fights I see on social media are not over how, but over what and why. "You think this? You don't understand or believe this thing that I do? Clearly you are morally bankrupt!" The person's interlocutor is reduced to being represented entirely by the point of disagreement. If we can't start finding points of agreement, if we can't start working through our differences somehow, then we will lose.

@Radical_EgoCom People need to start making imperfect alliances and focussing on points of agreement to stop the wheels coming off. People are far too hung up on points of difference and fighting about that rather than trying to get things done. Perhaps two people don't agree on abortion, but can agree on privacy, affordable health care etc. I think the question should be what can we get done together, rather than what can we deadlock over.
