    @HebrideanHecate @Chronic-Yonic @sim @Childfree It's the same mentality as the trans *allies* who hate to be thought of as boring and normal. They love the *otherness* and enjoy promoting it as some kind of moral good. Most of us just go - look, somebody a bit different - and carry on, but some people have to advertise their specialness by proxy through banging on about other people's specialness as if the difference was automatically some sort of virtue.
    Stupidity on steroids.

    @HebrideanHecate I just think it's hilarious now, so I spend my time trolling and laughing about it in public. If there are people who want to defend their nonsense on stilts, they can do so in public while I laugh at them.
    I find this rather effective because it gives the quiet compliant souls permission to join in the mockery or at least have a giggle, and it often enrages the nonsense on stilts brigade who hate to have the piss taken out of them.

    @ILoveAmericaNews @GluedToTheScreen Believe me, there's nothing I would like more. The UK is just as bad. It's been over twenty years since the WMDs debacle and the *death* of Dr David Kelly, yet not one politician has been to court over taking us into an illegal war. In fact, one of them was awarded one of the highest accolades.
    It makes me wonder just how many people in public life are compromised in order for them to not upset the applecart of snouts in troughs. I fear that if due process is denied us, a bloody revolution will follow. I'm not sure how that will go down in the UK. After Charles I, we seem to have lost our taste for making an example of public figures who go rogue.

    If we really want democracy (not the cargo cult theatrical democracy we've had for decades) we need to be serious about what goes on.
    What was happening under decades of US politics was unelected groups acting like crime cartels. The UK is not particularly different. People still cling to daft ideas like *it's ok when my team do it* and *that team make a mess, my team sorts it out* as if there is a clear-cut distinction of *my team honest, that team corrupt.*
    People may have faith in the new Trump administration to *drain the swamp, * but this may descend into revenge. He's had four years of shit hurled at him and he might want a bit of payback. Or his intentions may be honourable, but eventually the power will corrupt. Or he might be part of the controlled opposition and is there to ensure that people embrace a totalitarian takeover with open arms. There are historical precedents for all of these.
    We're now in the very unpleasant position of knowing that it takes another crime cartel to oust an existing crime cartel. Or we can find ourselves a group of Untouchables. And remember that crime cartels will not go quietly. I expect a lot of *suicides* and *accidents* and possibly a *Valentine's Day massacre* or two very soon.
