Looks like #Redbox is going out of business. Can't say I ever used one personally, but it really sucks that the last gasp of physical video rental is dead. With Target and Best Buy leaving the #DVD market, and walmart scaling back, #physical #media sales are basically a thing of the past. This particularly sucks because it raises the cost of #entertainment. No longer can you rent or buy a DVD and watch it on the cheap, you now need subscriptions and service contracts and isps and such.

This is terrible for #poor people. It means, effectively, there is a baseline cost to be entertained now. I think back to when I was in college, and my roommate and I had no cable, nothing to watch, except a lone animaniacs DVD my roommate had, that we watched on loop as background noise for *MONTHS*. I've been broke before and had to go a month without internet. So what now, those times, people just stare at walls? #TV and #Movies are now only for #middleclass? This sucks.

The idea of cheap, affordable entertainment delivered to your home has been a thing for #generations now. I grew up in a time when a small black and white CRT TV could be bought for $30 and OTA TV was the norm, when recording stuff off TV onto VHS with a $50 VCR was a thing. You basically can't do one-time purchase of media anymore, everything will require a contract, be it your ISP or netflix (even if it's just a month) or whatever. This hasn't been luxury for 50+ years. #Capitalism sucks.

Why did I watch that video of that shithead #cop ramming the #baby #cow with his car *twice* in quick succession? If anybody posts news about, do yourself a favor, and don't watch it. Fuck the police. Thank goodness the cow lived.

fabrication plans were finalized June 1st, and the first fabrication run was successful. They are gearing up for a full production run, the new z80s will be available for purchase by October.

@FlashMobOfOne whats insane is that homelander is absolutely pathetic. Take away his super strength, and the dude is the exact opposite of the macho manly persona they are in love with. The very embodiment of the macho persona came to life and told him straight to his face he wasn't manly because he was wearing a cape. @FlashMobOfOne I saw someone complaining about Frenchie now being "the token gay." Like, the dude wasn't even the only LGBTQ+ person on the show, did they forget Queen Maeve? That was her entire arc.

Of course, their #medialiteracy is complete shit, so they missed the fact that Frenchie was openly in a throuple in season 2, and had both a boyfriend and girlfriend prior. So... yeah. Morons.

My dad was a code inspector for the city of Houston for 20 years, specializing in accessibility. The number of times he heard people say "well we don't ever plan on having people with a wheelchair in our business" or something similar blew his mind. You're not just doing this for clients!

@FlashMobOfOne yeah, the secret is in linux, all games use DXVK, which is a translation layer from direct x to vulkan. Steam, in both windows and linux, has an option to automatically download and share shaders when you download a game, but only vulkan shaders, not DX shaders. This fixes shader compilation stutter. In windows, almost nothing uses Vulkan, so the feature basically goes unused, but in linux, by nature, *everything* uses vulkan, so everything can use this, even old games.

@FlashMobOfOne you can see the space your downloaded shaders take up in linux in the steam client. Makes the same games run a lot better in linux, because they're not pausing and compiling shaders all the time. The purple bar here is the shaders it's downloaded and saved:

@FlashMobOfOne i very honestly find linux gaming much better than windows gaming these days. Things outright run better on the same hardware thanks to vulcan shader sharing.

@FlashMobOfOne I admire him as an artist. I think he's one of the greatest artists in history.It's one thing to be great in film and comedy today, with 100+ years of examples to crib from, it's another thing to essentially pull the art form from the ether yourself. Chaplin didn't really have anybody to imitate, his comedy was all from his own mind, and it's still referenced a century later (and hilarious). An honest to god genius who wasn't appreciated in his own time.

@FlashMobOfOne @FlashMobOfOne The great dictator is the best movie Chaplin ever made, and ironically, his speech at the end is probably the apex of his entire career. His speech, ad libbed in the context of the movie, is genuinely stirring. I love Chaplin's movies so much, he was a great man.
