Has anyone come up with a good #Wordpress solution for putting #Fediverse sharing links on articles, yet?

Right now, my Wordpress still shows these "share to" link icons -- but in addition to being dated, it's not obvious to me how to make this work for Fedi platforms, since platform, instance, and user all need to be given (maybe some kind of Cookie could remember the user's preferences?)

We make good use of Mastodon’s interoperability with WordPress. When we recently moved our Vivaldi Tips (@tips) blog from vivaldi.net to vivaldi.com to start translating the tips, we noticed that things were a little off on the Mastodon side. Luckily we have the amazing @thomasp in our team, who ironed out every single issue we found.

One of the problems we had was the ActivityPub plugin not detecting the language tags our translation plugin (WPML) added to the posts on WordPress. Language tags allow people on Mastodon to subscribe to posts only in the languages they can read and use the translation feature, so this was an important issue for us to solve. 対象的に，原開発者の属人性が色濃いままなのが #WordPress で，財政的な安定性にはつながっているのものの，マット・マレンウェッグ氏というひとりの個人が冷静さを失う度にプロジェクト全体が揺れることにもなっている。

I hear you & agree in general. I think context is important, though, & I think the really relevant context here isn't OpenAI - it's #Automattic & the #WordPress Foundation.

So, yes, devil will be in the details - but I expect those details to be informed by the actions of a particular devil. Naturally we will have to see how it's all written out.

If you were to design a brand new blogging platform from scratch today, what would it look like?

Would it stick to the standard "N columns" template format?

Would it have a dedicated Admin UI, or would it reuse existing tools?

Would it define its own DB schema, or piggyback off existing standards?

Would it make sense to design it as an ActivityPub client with a Web UI?

... until then, i can just guess. Do you have some kind of user or account definition for the #ActivityPub plugin in #WordPress, where you see some settings...? Where is the connection between "news" and "author=0"? Is 0 the internal ID? Or totally wrong?

@pfefferle - is there an easy way to test a working ActivityPub installation? I have it running on https://www.rhein-neckar-tango.de, and webfinger looks good et al, but @news@www.rhein-neckar-tango.de cannot be found by three Mastodon instances that I tested. Any ideas?

Let's say I have a #WordPress blog which federates and I want to also have some posts that ~only~ federate and don't appear on the blog. Because I want to do some social stuff socially without making the blog unbloggy. Is there support for that? Specifically, is there support to mirror posts from an evil corporate network to fedi without making them blog posts?

@wjmaggos Yep! I will be using #Threads to convince friends & family to use #Fediverse alternatives. I am just waiting for #Pixelfed to show up on the App Store & Google Play (hurry up @dansup! 😂), so folks have an alternative to #Instagram that is dedicated to photography & (in a future update) videography.

Currently the only other notable alternative via app (for #iOS & #Android) is #WordPress right now.

I have been so busy at work that I have not responded to what @zuck has said regarding removing content moderation on @threads, #Instagram & #Facebook.

Me‽ I will stay, as (for better or worse) most of my family, friends & colleagues first encounter with the #Fediverse will be on Threads.
