> dream job
Some parts of that job were great. There were a lot of really talented and intelligent people there and we were working on something that would be cool to have.
On the other hand, the place was wildly mismanaged to the point that the CEO replaced himself with a guy that ran the company into the ground during his tenure as CEO and, before a meeting with the investors, stalled and kept stalling them for an hour, and then when they went to check on him again, he was no longer in his office and his car was gone. No one heard from him for a month--I found out because people called me asking if I had heard from him and I hadn't--and then out of nowhere he resurfaces with a blog post about how the company was doomed, basically burned them and shat all over everyone except the few people he managed to steal. Kind of a nightmare. (Plus I had to write a lot of JavaScript and Mozilla treats developers the way political parties treat "safe" demographics.)
> Scheme was the first language I was able to actually get my head around when I was learning stuff in high school,
Yeah, I think it's one of the least hairy languages, conceptually really nice. I get older though and language matters even less than it used to.
