     I don't think they're going to survive. Some of them will probably do what you say, but they're probably going to fragment into warring factions. BlueSky will end up with one faction or the other, and the opposing faction will migrate to some of fediblock instances which will further fragment and become increasingly divided and impotent.

     The interesting thought experiment is what happens if the Democrats actually collapse over this liberal schism. A new opposition will inevitably coalesce, and it will have to cater to one or the other because our system is inherently two-party. That leaves one faction homeless, if it's the tranny faction they'll have few options but to be absorbed into some irrelevant meme third party, but if the anti-tranny faction is somehow the one that's ousted, it's possible at least some (most likely the more politically unengaged among them) could start chudding out in more ways than just the troon question.

     Seems like the GOP is also just starting to realize that the boomer portion of their voter base with the huge fetish for Israel is starting to die off and the millennials and zoomers who don't want anything to do with Israel at all are growing in influence. I imagine this demographic shift has a lot to do with why Israel is desperately bribing content creators to shill for them because they see the writing on the wall: the gibs from America they've been used to for a generation are very likely to be unceremoniously cut off within ten years regardless of which direction the political winds blow.

     I think this mindset was cultivated by the world of abundance and opportunity the boomers grew up in, and thankfully is dying out in the wake of that world evaporating away in a single generation. So of course they say "we shouldn't be mean to "them"" because they never deal with the actual problems these policies create.
     
     For example the gas station i go to to get smokes is literally in the middle of the hood with like loitering black guys, homeless who come up to your car and ask for money, ect. But boomers want to be "compassonate" for these people and yet they would never, ever actually go to the gas station 1 because they live in their isolated communities 2 because they are actually scared of brown people.
     
     Its super shitty, they sit behind their big walled off communities and force the rest of us to deal with shit.
     
     Though, I'm happy about medical care and insurance costs doubling because finally, I think the boomers are going to feel the squeeze and won't be isolated much longer

     Thats why i'm happy medicare costs are doubling for them now because they are finally getting squeezed like the rest of us have been for the last 5-10 years.
     
     Now they did everything correctly, got a job, got the 401k, worked 40 years and now their retirements are going to get gutted because the government is literally going bankrupt.
     
     Its sad sure, but maybe the voting block will wake up to "hey, maybe we need to make some changes in the system"

     @sun @Morghur @skylar @cjd @WhitestTemplar @Hoss well, according to my extended family, health insurance/home owner insurance just double this year and social security is getting cut by 20 some percent by early 2030, so it looks like even middle class boomers are going to get downgraded to lower income class in retirement due to health insurance costs and social security drying up.
     
     It's actually a little sad, but at the same time "consequences of my actions" so it is what it is. Welcome to the world everyone else is living in.

     Something I learned from my experience living in the city is that the dregs of the concrete hive have a keen eye for singling out people who don't live downtown from the masses of those that do. Downtown whitey is jaded to the point that he doesn't respond to strangers and he has his head on a swivel at all times, not an ideal target to manipulate or victimize. Whitey from the suburbs doesn't pay attention and is far more likely to both listen to your sob story and fall for it, the perfect target to manipulate and/or victimize. My first six months in the city I got harassed by bums and niggers a lot because they could smell fresh meat, but after going through the gauntlet and becoming hardened to all the concrete hive's bullshit I was bothered very little.

     When i was in college they really pushed that "it's to prevent people from falling through the cracks in society and joining extremist ideologies".
     
     At this point welfare is more about people mooching money. There is a case for maintaining gibs but particularly in the US, it's becoming a tool for people too useless to take care of themselves to keep on being a nuisance

     True. By the time Occupy was disintegrating i was already orbiting the right wing and when i saw what happened i kinda rolled my eyes. The signs were there and when it finally happened it didn't even surprised me that the movement tore itself apart while the culprits fucked off.      Here in Spain they implemented a system to unemployment benefits. Essentially you cannot mooch benefits until they run out but now you need to actively look for work and they will do interviews and follow up with you. If you reject a job offer that takes you, unemployment is rescinded
