    So, I looked at the thread some more. Apparently this doesn't apply to just poast, it applies to some 1000+ instances. I assume that's the end result of referencing a block list.

    You can check if your instance is affected by hitting up the host via curl with the instance param and using curl's verbose flag to see if you get a 302. Lab is affected, it'd be a massive waste of bandwidth to keep trying to fetch the user from this instance so effective immediately I am defederating this host.

    That's all I guess.

      @sarvo You get redirected to a 10 gigabyte speed test entropy file. Pleroma follows redirects, so it would be a water of bandwidth to start trying to fetch 10 GB of nonsense.

      Incidentally, for exactly this reason, FediList/Revolver/etc. do not follow redirects when it's an API endpoint. I don't know why any HTTP library would enable it by default.

      @p @pwm @nyanide @sarvo Some instances admins (mostly Akkoma) like to redirect certain requests to SLDs to subdomains. That's how you get all the Akkoma instances that aren't hosted on the SLD, but usernames show as being from there. So you essentially have to follow redirects or you'll break federation otherwise.

      I think at least webfinger has to be on the SLD and everything else redirected, or every API endpoint and webfinger need to be redirected. It's a completely stupid way to set up an instance.

When you are using develop of Pleroma-FE, you can't even log in to AdminFE if you have TOTP enabled, because FE switched local storage stores where the token is stored.

      I think they have broken it; at some point you have to stop trying to bend over backwards to accommodate brokenness or you end up with more brokenness. People will do a thing that *mostly* works and then the other servers will try to accommodate it and then the docs stop resembling what you have to actually do.
