@LostShakerOfSalt I try not to eat pork as much as possible. The pathogen load in pork as compared to beef is off the charts. But, dam I love bacon so much. I just make sure it's extra, extra crispy.

@agaperealm @LostShakerOfSalt If you're in America, our pork is surprisingly healthy (this has been trending downward but that's most things). The safety of pork increases dramatically with factory farming, which is bitter sweet because it's not an ideal way to raise an animal. Being outside is basically a requirement for trichinella infections (trichinosis parasite) lifecycle completion, so cheap off the shelf pork is usually okay. You should always cook it to recommended temps though, because trichinella won't die from a freezer or even a 10% salt content like a bacon curing.

@sapphire @LostShakerOfSalt @agaperealm Real cooking to 165° has never been tried 😉. People screw up pork all the time with weird slow cooking methods that don't hit the whole pig to the necessary temps. You're far worse eating wild carnivores of any type than farmed pigs, as those are the number one source of foodborne illness for the same reason (improper cooking). I am a fan of pressure cooking followed by smoking or oven broiling to fix a crust. Gotta get the temps to the right point, but you can do that slow and low or medium and moderate just as easily.

@agaperealm @LostShakerOfSalt you know the pathogen load on anything cooked to 165f is zero right?

@agaperealm @LostShakerOfSalt That is a very good point. Possibly a source of a lot of weird things like pseudogynecomastia and mystery cancers.

@BowsacNoodle @LostShakerOfSalt Yeah. Then you're just dealing with the pharmaceuticals they're jabbing the swine with. Unfortunately, unprocessed pharmaceuticals tend to reside in fatty tissues of all animals. Swine just happens to have a lot more fat.

Pork is always to be well done, that's all I know and some of you retards are eating raw beef and calling it "rare"

@Deplorable_Degenerate @LostShakerOfSalt @agaperealm @sapphire I've eaten steak tartare, and it's good but the texture is kind of off. The place I'll get it from does it right by fresh cutting the inside. Just seems like a lot of steps to go through when you can just cook a burger even to medium or medium well and it tastes delicious. Anyone who tries to push undercooked pork should lose their food loicens.

More irritated at steak houses thinking medium means blue rare.

@Deplorable_Degenerate @LostShakerOfSalt @agaperealm @sapphire Pisses me off. I prefer to reverse sear my own steaks at this point because at least I can make sure they have rendered fat and some semblance of being cooked.

@sapphire @LostShakerOfSalt @BowsacNoodle @agaperealm you know i often joke about how the cops around here are polite, cuz castle doctrine and stand your ground applies to them to if they fuck around.

@reallyangry @LostShakerOfSalt @BowsacNoodle @agaperealm in theory but you’re not winning a case against the PD because the sheriff plays golf with your judge AND lawyer

@sapphire @LostShakerOfSalt @BowsacNoodle @agaperealm it's really cheap here all the time cuz we're one of the top 3 pork producers in the union

@sapphire @reallyangry @LostShakerOfSalt @BowsacNoodle Yeah. It truly is the other white meat. I'll throw a steak on the grill and not pay too much attention to the doneness. Pork I'm just really careful about the cooking metrics.

@reallyangry @LostShakerOfSalt @BowsacNoodle @agaperealm seriously, we’ve had almost nothing but pork this month because the local farmers market has shoulders for $1.20 a pound and I just got a smoker, still alive and well

@sylus @sapphire @LostShakerOfSalt @BowsacNoodle @agaperealm reminds me of that video of the atf guy getting roughly handled by arresting officers cuz he was being a belligerent dick and refused ot id himself and show his badge etc.

@sapphire @LostShakerOfSalt @BowsacNoodle @agaperealm the sheriff is totally separate from the police there's actually a lot of based sheriffs too, you can call the sheriff on the police and he can arrest them.

@reallyangry @sapphire @LostShakerOfSalt @BowsacNoodle @agaperealm This is the way. When approached by law enforcement, call every other law enforcement agency in your jurisdiction and report them for being suspicious. Get them all to show up and do the multiple spiderman meme while pointing badges at each other. Then proclaim "now that I've got you all in one convenient place, I can mock you all efficiently". Then prepare for a beating, they don't like derision.

@branman65 @agaperealm @LostShakerOfSalt Agreed. literally the only good thing about it is cleaner pork. None of the other animals benefit from it and the pork isn't better off besides almost zero trichinosis.

@branman65 @BowsacNoodle @LostShakerOfSalt A friend of mine's (ex) wife worked in management at a Midwest pork producer. 3,000 pigs per day were processed in their facilities. It seems like an impossible number. Do they grow them in pods?

@agaperealm @branman65 @LostShakerOfSalt There's a lot of hog farmers and they grow a ton of pigs 🐖 in small areas usually.
