   @_elena @WeirdWriter Yeah so the Starter Kit project I am working on uses an existing signal, the `Indexable` profile attribute (supported on Mastodon/Pixelfed) AND my project will send a notification to each account added with the ability to self-remove or opt-out of all.

     Been online for too many years to fall for this trick again. Reddit and OpenAI literally just happened and everyone's ignoring all of the red flags. Again.

     You hit everything I ever wanted to say in one post! Love it! I asked this elsewhere, but how do you see one click starter packs going on here, if, for example, I don't want everybody to register to my own instance since it is an instance for the blind. Maybe instances themselves can have starter packs for when someone can sign up to the instance? But I actually really like the invite system we have now where I can post a link to a chat and have everyone follow me after signing up. That raptor reply resignated with me too! I am curious, though, about 2 things.

     1. Do you follow bridged accounts over here? I do, since they are not here. I know these connections will go away when they close down their API's and such, and more, but for now, it works enough.

     2. What's your experience been like bridging your BSky account to the Fediverse?@_elena @cwebber @jonny @doctorow @phanpy @cheeaun @raptor85 @dansup @sennoma

     @fluffykittycat @_elena yup people conveniently forget that Twitter was mostly a shithole even before Musk bought it. We need to raise the bar with our expectations to avoid repeating the same mistakes.

     @_elena yes but i disagree with Impossible Foods analogy.

     Impossible Foods disrupt and innovate which even if they were VC funded the business logic aligns with the goal.

     There's no business logic in Bluesky and it's not really innovating or disrupting so the actual social gain here extremely untrustworthy.

     What will happen when VC bros start asking for their money back? Bluesky gonna stay selling domain names? It just doesn't compute no matter how you look at it.

     @_elena @fluffykittycat There's a platform design can do to alleviate this issue though.

     For example all algorithmic timelines are editorial by nature so the editors have a lot of control here. Bluesky tries this with feeds but they're poorly done and barely work. Tho, there are no benevolent dictators and it'll corrupt eventually.

     Mastodon just streams everything in linear order and that's very neutral but a bit boring.

     This is just to illustrate how impactful design is to the "vibe".
