@GrimmReality Wait, Yuengling is made by cunts?
Jesus Christ. We really can't have nice* things.

"90-degree-rotated razorwire goatse" is not a sequence of words I expected to find in my brain today, and yet here we are.
@hellomiakoda When we lived in an apartment in Pdx, the Spousal Unit painted the kitchen green with a big fuck-off Velvet Underground banana in yellow; it was absolutely awesome. First thing the soulless bastards did when we moved to another unit in the same complex was to paint it all over in beige; the painters were coming in as we moved the last of our stuff out. I'm still fuckin' angry.

If you must talk about today's Chickenshit March, use this photo.

I hope that most of those senior engineers have enough financial security to tell the company to go pound sand. Make the bastards hire junior engineers and pay them to figure shit out.

I am in this picture and I don't like it.
Why not just get the fuck out of someone else's business? If I don't want a fuss made of my birthday -- and I fucking don't -- then it's real easy, just don't make a fuss of my fucking birthday. I don't owe you or anyone else an explanation, I've set boundaries, fucking respect them. Simple.
JUST LET PEOPLE LIVE THEIR FUCKING LIVES YOU FUCKING WEIRDOS
What's happening here? This person is not bridged into Fedi, and I'm not connected in any way at all to Bluesky. Are my posts visible over there, and if so how/why? Is this an option the chaos.social mods selected?
@dalias I'm not following that account, nor does it follow me.
Open Access friends, I have a question for you!
In light of the horrors found inside Claude, is there ANY software that you would trust to draft a literature review for you?
Access to the literature for LLMs (or "data mining") was once, and I'm guilty of this, widely touted as one of the as-yet-unrealized benefits of OA.
"No one can read 129,852* p53 papers," I used to say, "but a machine can."
Is this still a possibility, or is it all just snake oil?

@evan No, we're atheists, but we like presents and shiny things so we decorate and get loot anyway!
@alice ...and you can open them all?
*nails doors and windows shut*
FUCK YOU.
Either make it available or don't, this bait-and-switch just got me to delete my "free" account. I'll find a Wordle substitute somewhere.
@hellomiakoda While still running, or...?
@hellomiakoda Find out here:

if your financial institution/s are signed up. (Mine isn't.)
@GrimmReality Please don't do this, bail is expensive and we're all doing it tough for a quid out here. 💚
@kims Would the six of you who have a problem with the two working for ICE-friendly companies be willing to keep them and their families afloat financially while they look for other work?
I've wondered about this as a mechanism for getting people to leave problematic employers -- a sort of personalized crowdfunded unemployment insurance.
@mhoye "...buried deep in deleted forks, gists, and developer repos most scanners never touch"
Well they will now, ya fuckin' snitch.
@hellomiakoda @sitcom_nemesis @curiousicae
That's amazingly detailed compared to the inside of my head.
I mean, I *conceptualize* my memory as computer files and fuzzy search, but I don't *visualize* it that way. When I try to remember something, I don't really SEE anything, in my mind's eye or even in front of my actual eyes, I just have a squishy feeling of rummaging around and then the memory pops up or doesn't.
I do have a hidden music player, though. That's where earworms come from. 😂
@hellomiakoda @sitcom_nemesis @curiousicae
Yes, I'm beginning to see that.
Sometimes I think about how complex the human brain is, and I wonder why it doesn't go wrong more often. (Usually pondering my own depressive disorder.)
This conversation is making me realize that there are also a mind boggling number of different ways for it to go RIGHT. If, as a species, we could get past our tendency to fear The Other, we could open up a vast resource of neurodiversity.
