True story. My wife was in the hospital once and they wouldn't discharge her because a doctor wasn't available. They said one wouldn't be available for 12 hours. I called and had a conversation with staff and ended up going full lawyer (I can go complete asshole in about 10ms when required).
The hospital them sends a counselor in to talk to my wife about spousal abuse. She then tell the counselor to fuck off, warns him that he's breaching his duties by using his position to manipulate a legal dispute with the hospital, and demanded to be discharged. She was out within the hour. -

Exactly. When I was at Kaiser they played a similar game. 5 minutes before midnight in the delivery room = one day charge. In delivery room 2 hours after midnight = One day charge. In recovery room for 8 hours = one day charge. They sent me a bill for $10k for three days of rooms. I told them $5k or fuck off. They didn't take it. I never paid. 🤷♂️ -

The only concern is getting admitted later other than emergency (where they have to take you). Kaiser is really an all in one, though broken into three corps (hospital, medical group, insurer). They'd have problems if they didn't admit after non-payment, plus I was about to switch insurers because kaiser is shit, so I didn't give a fuck. Plus, I made a fair offer, so no guilt here. -

I love seeing the little guy win. Health care can be amazing in rare circumstances but mostly it is buzzards tearing at a demented persons carcass.
Also for those who don't know. Never pay until insurance settles everything. Then offer 30 percent. If they decline arrange to pay 10 dollars per month. Bet they settle the remainder for that within the week if not immediately.

The irony is the you can't get medical care. The government wants you to pay monthly for insurance, but you can't see most doctors in less than 45 days and specialist 3 to 6 months. Most of those visits are BS and result in rejection of any real medical care. -

Yeah. They tried similar shit when I said we were leaving with our baby. They said they'd call cps. I reminded them that hone births are legal, and that they had no medical reason to hold my child. I also informed them that threatening to report in order to induce the forfeiture of a legal right is statutory blackmail and a beach of fiduciary duty. They btfo. When my daughter was born they gave us some fake scare legal paperwork saying we were committing a crime by not having our kids get the eyeball goop that's meant for nigger spawn.
The legal paperwork referenced a code about prison inmates getting compulsory treatment for STDs, like after a rape.
They just lied to us to try to scare us. I have a picture of the paper they gave us somewhere. -

it really, really helps if you know a doctor; a fren with an MD after their name makes them nervous, because they know that while they can bullshit other people all day long, another doctor is a very different story and there be dragons there
it also helps if you understand how to find the organ-grinder quickly; in Hump's case, if there wasn't anybody to discharge his wife, then who was going to be making the call and doing the paperwork for the report? that isn't the sort of thing a CNA is going to be doing, and it's even the sort of thing an RN is probably going to need somebody else to sign off on, so if they can go to that level of trouble they can get a whitecoat to show up from some other department and kick her out the door, especially if she is very clear that she understands whatever risks there are and wants to GTFO
that said, "medical kidnapping" of children is a real thing, they can a do it if they get pissy, and there is a lot of organizational power behind them if they choose to go that route; be advised that the "legal" cures for this can take a long time to work through and while your kid is out of your hands who the fuck knows what they'll be doing to him

Regarding medical kidnappings and the other similar acts, that's why when you do escalate, you have to do it quickly. They can't have any forwarning. You don't want to give them time to create any medical records. You want you be sure to make all acts look retaliatory, which is ultimately the trap I set. Then you call them on it.
And yes, when you do attack, it's best to go directly at that person. Someone who is licensed is a good target. While it can be blackmail to threaten to report for revocation of licensure, it's not blackmail where that possibility is just in the ether. -
