   A good way to discover interesting posts on here is to follow hashtags. When you do this, posts with the tags will start showing up in your timeline even from accounts you don't follow.

   To follow a hashtag, just search for the hashtag and then click the "Follow" button.

   This works on the web interface and most apps, but not the official Android app. Android users will need a third party app like Tusky or Fedilab or Megalodon.

     Looks like they've also added Lists support to the official Android app too 👍

     Weirdly it still says "to do" on the official roadmap, I guess they haven't updated it yet.

     Hashtags are filters for your server's federated timeline, they passively filter whatever posts your server has already noticed.

     If you want something that actively pushes additional content to your server on particular topics, try following groups instead:

     @feditips @mike Worth noting that you still need to follow people because hashtags alone won’t get anything. As I understand it, they are retrieved from the instances of the people you follow.

     @feditips I found that when you're following hashtags, posts are not filtered by language. To me it makes following hashtags pointless. I don't want to see posts in languages I don't know.

     This is what the existing language filters and language selection systems are supposed to do, because people can choose their language from the language selector below each post (mine is set to "EN" or English for this post, for example).

     But the bug on the filters means this system isn't hiding followed hashtags in the wrong language 😦

     @fakeplastictree @feditips Since there are people wanting to post in different languages, how about a system where you ad the language in front of your name tag like for example english @en@stupidjim@instance and spanish @es@stupidjim@instance, so people know which version to follow to receive updates form you in their language. While posting you just select the language and it will add it to the right sub-timeline.

     This would -too- make it really easy to filter hashtags by language.

     Hmm... haven't heard about that before. Sounds like some kind of bug?

     Have you tried following them again?

     Just had a look at Mastodon's github page and it doesn't seem to have an issue about this yet. Let me know if you still have problems even after refollowing and I'll open an issue.

     I follow lot of hashtags but I discovered that many hashtags which I followed were unfortunately unfollow without any action from me, do you known what can cause this ?

     finally i checked my followed hashtags list from mastodon and compared it with my file and everything is ok, I was sure of following more hashtags but finally it seems that since I change of instance I never follow back all the hashtags I was thinking about.
