I don't think you can have fine-grained access control with the activitypub protocol yet, but friendica also speaks the diaspora protocol, in which you can do that.

Yesterday I used a computer at the public library. Holy shit, is this what computers are like when other people use them???

There were ads everywhere on the internet. All the desktop programs I was using kept trying to get me to log in and use AI, to the point that it was hard to figure out how to use the computer like a person.

I did a web search and it was hard to locate the answer through all the AI and ads.

This is how people live???

I'm literally confused how a "colony of clones that take on different forms and functions" is any different from what I am.

It even looks, from Wikipedia, like they develop from a single fertilized egg, just like me. I don't get how they're different. Can their zooids survive separately? Can they reproduce separately? How is a zooid not just an "organ" like I have?

Can someone explain whatsapp's security situation to me, or point me at an article that does so?

I have heard that it uses Signal's encryption, but I have also heard that it's not secure and Meta gets all your info. What's going on here? Are your chats encrypted but then also sent to meta or something? Does meta have all your metadata but not the contents of the chats? Something else?
